Update from BISS

22 January 2021

BISS LIST 1.22.21 : Happy 2021 for real this time!

Happy 2021 BISS Listers!

I know I already said Happy New Year a couple of weeks ago but that was on December 30th. By January 7th, I was trying to figure out how to cancel my trial subscription for 2021.

Then we got to this past Wednesday, Inauguration Day. I was mindful of the possible impact the day might have so I had taken the day off. At the time, I didn’t know if that impact would be in a good way or a bad way. The uncertainty was really the only thing that was certain that morning.

I had planned to spend a little time writing to you all about all the fun entertaining things that would be coming but then I was swept away by the day’s festivities. I could not tear myself away from Lady Gaga or J-Lo and especially Amanda Gorman!  And of course, the message of President Biden’s Inauguration address. Hope. Dignity. Respect, Unity.  Whether you believe in this or not, it feels good to take just a moment and dream of these things.

So NOW, I say, Happy 2021 – FOR REAL!

BISS PICKS OF THE WEEK

The D3 Podcast: “Ready to Record”
To kick off this week’s BISS features, I want to inspire you by telling you about a 19 year old musician, engineer and producer. I have known this kid since birth and and continually amazed and inspired by him. Daniel ‘The D3’ Cohen has just released Episode 14 of his podcast, Ready to Record from his home studio in San Francisco.  He interviews recording veterans, reviews gear and shares music he is working on.  Join The D3 as he explores ways to make epic recordings in his garage.  http://bit.ly/D3ReadyToRecord

Eddie Roberts’ Rare Sounds Vinyl Club: The Story of The Funk & Soul Revival
Curated by Eddie Roberts telling the stories of the Funk & Soul Revival through classic records that shaped the scene. Rare Sounds is a vinyl club telling the story of the “Funk-Soul Revival” through the 1990’s and 2000’s, inspired by funk, soul, jazz and boogaloo music of the 1960’s. https://bit.ly/RareSoundsVinylClub
PS – Spor says, his one year subscription to this vinyl club was favorite gift from me for Xmas 2020!!

A note from Larry….

Hello to all my cherished friends and client families,

Famous4 will be closing its doors on February 25!

Please support my transition down the road, come (if all my friends bought one item) get something for yourself or loved one at my Going out of Business SALE – All Reasonable Offers Accepted,

Or… you can click here GoFundMe to help keep my dream alive and support my business staying in Mill Valley at a hopefully new location (any ideas please let me know). I will survive!

It is important to let all who have said, “What will Mill Valley be without you?” “You are the heart and soul of our town” “Mill Valley needs you” etc. what is going on.

My heart is full and my head is held high. You have allowed me to be of service in a place that will forever be a part of me and given me so much.

Take note! I live in Mill Valley and remain committed to producing these wonderful community events

  • The Memorial Day Parade (Producer since 1992).
  • Memorial Day Veterans Ceremony “Honoring all who gave their lives for our freedom”
  • KIDDO! “Day on the Green” concert at MVCC after the parade
  • The Annual (22 years) Mill Valley Community Block Party, Fashion Show and Fashion Police

Together, our community has raised awareness and over $1Million to support KIDDO! Arts education programs in our schools. NorCal fire victims, Breast and Prostate cancer research, Hurricane Relief and much, much more.

Beware! The Famous4 Fashion Police will be back patrolling our streets and parks protecting our kids from Bad Fashion offenders. We will ensure they grow up understanding what it means to look good, inside and out.

Here’s a reminder of other events I helped create and produce in Mill Valley:

  • Fundraise and produce musical events for the MVFF
  • 142 Throckmorton (needs our help now)Tuesday Night Comedy
  • Sponsor of Comedy Night in the Plaza
  • Milley Award recipient and awards show producer
  • Winterfest
  • Shop Locally, Think Globally promotion for Downtown Businesses

This will be a night of great music and a live chat with the Musicians, Sponsors and friends.

Please share this with all your neighbors and friends for me and all the Small Businesses that are struggling, who have supported everything that has made Mill Valley the very very special it is, a place we love and are so blessed to call home.

Stay Safe, Fare Thee Well,

Larry the Hat

So here is a flashback to this 12 years ago today, January 22nd 2009 when we were making plans to go see Eric McFadden at the Boom Boom Room and trying to figure out how to make time to fit in North Mississippi All-starsat the Independent…. #Enjoy
