The Minnesota-born guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music has released 19 albums over two decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences.

From the start, they were the definition of a workingman's country band, cutting their teeth with five-hour sets on Austin's dancehall circuit before spreading their music to the rest of America. By the early 2020s, they'd become global ambassadors of homegrown Texas music, flying their flag everywhere from Abbey Road Studios (where they recorded 2019's Cheap Silver & Solid Country Gold with help from the London Symphony Orchestra) to the Grand Ole Opry. The band's newest self-titled album, 'Silverada', marks a new chapter in the band's history. It's not just the title of the boldest release of the group's critically-acclaimed career; it's also the name of the reinvigorated band itself.

Slumberland Records & (((folkYEAH!))) Present: "A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness" 30th Anniversary Re-issue and West Coast Tour - Rocketship came into focus in the early '90s, incubating through a series of demos and early 7"s into their fully-realized album. The continuum of sounds that made up A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness were recorded at home by bandleader and vocalist/songwriter Dusty Reske with help from members of the early lineup. While they sometimes melt into one another, each of the eight songs goes somewhere a little different. The bright, jangling guitars, zooming tempo, and co-ed vocals of brilliant opener "I Love You Like the Way That I Used to Do" blurs mod energy into something dreamier, practically blueprinting the next decade of indie pop in the process.

KC Turner Presents: Americana and roots singer-songwriter Jackie Greene is a jack-of-all-trades, and an artist who can croon over soulful piano ballads as much as he can shred a bluesy guitar solo (like he did as the lead guitarist for The Black Crowes in 2013). A road warrior and musician's musician, Greene's new EP 'The Modern Lives - Vol 2' (out October 2018 on Blue Rose Music) finds him at a new chapter in his life: his first months of fatherhood, time off his relentless touring circuit, and a cross-country move from Brooklyn to his birthplace of Northern California. + After decades on the road as one of rock's most in-demand sidemen touring with the likes of Susan Tedeschi, Robert Randolph and others, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby took time for himself. The result was his 2017 solo album.

Bitch makes witchy poet pop. She does it with violins and synthesizers. The resulting songs from her ninth studio album Bitchcraft, which came out on Kill Rock Stars February 4th, 2022, are heartbreaking, spectral, political and beautiful. Bitch is a longstanding queer music icon. For this tour, she has written a narrative play, an autobiographical "jaunt through her herstory" to take the audience on the journey of a shy and introverted child who goes on to reclaim 'Bitch' as a name and feminist act. This empowering, funny and heart-felt show is woven together with the huge violin-forward pop songs of Bitchcraft.

No matter what your pubic-politics are these days, you have to admit it's time for everybody to go to extremes. John Waters is back on the road with a whole new radical comedy revival show whose sermon will beg the authorities to drop a net on both himself and his rabidly insane audience. Yes, they're coming to take him away, ha-ha, ho-ho, hee-hee, but he doesn't care. He knows his deviously demented fans will fight back with a limp-wrist fist. Nasty neuters, hetero hell-cats with benefits, flaming straight guys, butch twinks, diesels with measles, trans who dress as their masculinized moms and feminized fathers -- they know they're welcome here! Calling all rock'n'roll refugees, illegal space aliens, John Waters says climb on over the wall to the other side. He's dressed to thrill and ready to rant about pro-punk conversion therapy, right-wing female-female impersonators, extreme amusement parks, even prank guerrilla placement of phony incendiary book titles in libraries that recently banned gay children's classics. Yessir, the Duke of Dirt has reckless eyeballs and he's lookin' for you

(((folkYEAH!))) Presents: Soon it will be the 60th anniversary of the FLAMIN' GROOVIES!! Originating in San Francisco in 1966, they are the rarest of rare. A band from the sixties, who changed course in the seventies, never bowed to any then-current trends, avoided great commercial success, took a break for twenty years, survived it all, and have been going strong for the past twelve. Over the course of the band's extensive history, they have been described as legendary Fillmore era San Francisco band, as classic rock, power pop, punk rock, garage rock, and a few other categorizations (which are actually all correct). + Penelope Houston and the Jailbirds As a teenager, in 1977, Penelope moved from Seattle to attend the San Francisco Art Institute. Quickly her career in visual arts was side-tracked by the formation of the critically acclaimed proto-punk band, the Avengers + The Phantom Movers, the backup band that played and recorded with former founding Flamin' Groovies vocalist Roy Loney (RIP) will be performing the songs off Roy's first solo album, "Out After Dark." and will feature the original band members, plus amazing vocalist, Jason Morgan (of Harold Ray and the East Side Dynamite.)

Las Cafeteras In 2005, rooted in community & tradition, a group of students learning Son Jarocho music became known as 'Los Cafeteros,' named after the Eastside Cafe community center they helped found. They soon changed their name to Las Cafeteras to honor the feminine spirit of the group. Without intending to, they organically evolved from student-group into a performance group aimed at sharing Afro-Mexican music from Southern Veracruz, Mexico in their neighborhoods. Over the years, Las Cafeteras would develop a genre-bending sound & electric live performance infusing lyrically rich storytelling with the purpose of sharing the hidden stories of migrant life in Los Angeles. Las Cafeteras, who grew up in Los Angeles, were inspired not only from Mexican music, but from rock, reggae, hip-hop and Motown. For Las Cafeteras, it was essential to use music as a way to build bridges among the different cultures and communities that historically have had tension. Through music, Las Cafeteras were trying to help build 'a world where many worlds fit.'

JaM Cellars Presents: John Waters (Writer/Director) Born in Baltimore, MD in 1946, John Waters was drawn to movies at an early age, particularly exploitation movies with lurid ad campaigns. He subscribed to Variety at the age of twelve, absorbing the magazine's factual information and its lexicon of insider lingo. This early education would prove useful as the future director began his career giving puppet shows for children's birthday parties. As a teenager, Waters began making 8-mm underground movies influenced by the likes of Jean-Luc Godard, Walt Disney, Andy Warhol, Russ Meyer, Ingmar Bergman, and Herschell Gordon Lewis. Using Baltimore, which he fondly dubbed the "Hairdo Capitol of the World," as the setting for all his films, Waters assembled a cast of ensemble players, mostly native Baltimoreans, and friends of long standing: Divine, David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce, Mink Stole and Edith Massey.

Stanford Live and Goldenvoice Present: Who Is The Sky Tour: David Byrne is a Scottish-born American musician, composer, and artist best known as the founding member and frontman of Talking Heads, the pioneering New Wave band, whose adventurous fusion of art-rock, funk, and global rhythms shaped modern music. After closing the chapter on his acclaimed American Utopia era--spanning an album, world tour, Broadway run, and Grammy Award-winning HBO film--Byrne began a new musical chapter that led to Who Is the Sky?, a cinematic and playfully experimental album created with Kid Harpoon and Ghost Train Orchestra. Featuring guests like Hayley Williams, St. Vincent, and Tom Skinner, the record deepens Byrne's lifelong curiosity about human connection, identity, and the beautifully absurd, blending intimate orchestral textures with the inventive spirit that has defined his work across decades.

KC Turner Presents: FULLY SEATED | 21 + / Over fifty years ago, during the "Summer of Love" - 1967 - Barry "The Fish" Melton celebrated his 20th birthday in June 1967. A few days later, he and his band, "Country Joe and the Fish," were rocketed onto the world stage at the Monterey Pop Festival with such luminaries as the Jefferson Airplane, the Mamas and Papas, Otis Redding, Ravi Shankar, Simon and Garfunkel, the Who and a relatively unknown guitarist named Jimi Hendrix. And fifty years ago, in 1969, Barry appeared at the historic festival in Woodstock New York and also appeared in the movie bearing the same name: "Woodstock." During the five years between 1967 and 1971, Barry would tour arenas, concert halls, and stadiums through Europe and North America. He also launched his first solo effort, a blues/soul album half of which was recorded in New York with members of the Wilson Pickett Band and half of which was recorded in Chicago with a band featuring Donny Hathaway on piano, Morris Jennings on drums and Phillip Upchurch on bass.

They have been hailed by Pitchfork as "modern masters of American folk" and "protectors of the American folk song" by Rolling Stone and the New York Times says "their combined voices operate beyond simple sonic harmony. There are emotional inquiries at play. If Welch's voice delivers the good news or the hard news of the world, Rawlings's voice comes underneath, asking how much deeper the sadness can go or what fresh heights the ecstatic can climb to."

KC Turner Presents: Robbie Fulks was born in York, Pennsylvania, and grew up in a half-dozen small towns in southeast Pennsylvania, the North Carolina Piedmont, and the Blue Ridge area of Virginia. He learned guitar from his dad, banjo from Earl Scruggs and John Hartford records, and fiddle (long since laid down in disgrace) on his own. He attended Columbia College in New York City in 1980 and dropped out in 1982 to focus on the Greenwich Village songwriter scene and other ill-advised pursuits. In 1983 he moved to Chicago and joined Greg Cahill's Special Consensus Bluegrass Band. He taught music at Old Town School of Folk Music from 1984 to 1996, and worked as a staff songwriter on Music Row in Nashville from 1993 to 1998. His early solo work -- Country Love Songs (1996) and South Mouth (1997) -- helped define the "alternative country" movement of the 1990s. His music from the last several years hews mainly to acoustic instrumentation; it returns him in part to his earlier bluegrass days, and extends the boundaries of that tradition with old-time rambles and sparely orchestrated reflections on love, the slings of time, and the troubles of common people.

If Welch's voice delivers the good news or the hard news of the world, Rawlings's voice comes underneath, asking how much deeper the sadness can go or what fresh heights the ecstatic can climb to."

Three decades after the loss of Jerry Garcia, a close-knit band of musicians are carrying the torch for his distinctive blend of soul, guitar, and eclectic American music. Jerry's Middle Finger do more than celebrate the Jerry Garcia Band's catalog; they also broadcast it to a new generation, upholding Garcia's dedication to camaraderie and community building by creating their own family-like experience onstage. Double albums like Live at the Chapel San Francisco, May 30th, 2025 capture that experience, shining a light on JMF's striking ability to play the Jerry Garcia Band's music -- a blend of blues, reggae, Motown, gospel, and psychedelic rock, performed from the early 1970s up until his passing in 1995 -- with sincere reverence for the original material and a fresh electrified spirit that resonates with every generation.

Guess What? I Love You LP/Book Release Party: With his fifteenth album and debut memoir, piano-playing singer-songwriter Mike Maimone chronicles the profound love story he shared with his late husband, legendary publicist Howard Bragman--whose groundbreaking career empowered countless people to live openly and authentically. Written with candor and warmth, Guess What? I Love You weaves humor, heartbreak, spirituality, and healing. New York Times bestselling author Thomas Maier calls it "a beautifully written, deeply moving memoir that will stir the soul of anyone who reads it." Music is central to Maimone's storytelling, and the album serves as a true companion piece. DNA Magazine says the record "documents not just a relationship, but also the resilience found in facing sorrow and choosing to celebrate love." On his release tour, Maimone invites audiences--especially those navigating grief--to remain open to connection, embrace vulnerability, and experience the full spectrum of human emotion through songs and stories from his transformative "Year of Yes." Since beginning his career in 2005, Maimone has written and published over two hundred songs heard on TV, in films, and on the radio.

Co-Presented by DJ Dials: The Disco Biscuits are a band of transformation and invention. Now 3 decades after their first launch, the Philadelphia-based group remains the pioneers of "Trance-Fusion" - bridging the gap between electronic dance music and jam rock - while consistently looking for new sonic boundaries to break and avenues to tell stories within. In the summer of 2025, The Biscuits will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary with an east coast and midwest tour surrounding four special Anniversary shows taking place over July 4th Weekend - almost exactly 30 years from their first ever show (July 5, 1995 at the University of Pennsylvania tavern, Smokey Joe's). TDB30 shines a light on the band's storied and impactful past, and emphasizes their continued evolution into the modern era.

(((folkYEAH!))) Presents: Throwing Muses released their new album 'Moonlight Concessions' in 2025 via Fire Records. The album follows their acclaimed 'Sun Racket' from 2020, a heady set filled with tough and tender tales spiked with surreal imagery. 'Moonlight Concessions' goes back to basics, a return for Throwing Muses to their esoteric off-kilter best courtesy of Kristin Hersh's pin-sharp sketches and their suitably abrasive musical arrangements, a collection of snippets from everyday life writ large - think Raymond Carver Short Cuts, overheard conversations, recounted happenings and telling one-liners, all sewed together to illustrate the times as they slowly mature, fully peppered with original Muses' vim and vigour. Following a string of packed shows across Europe in Spring and Summer 2025, These shows are Throwing Muses' first U.S. appearances in over a decade. With nearly 40 years of Muses-history behind her, Kristin Hersh continues to be one of the most compelling voices in American rock -- a fiercely original songwriter and a magnetic live performer.

Benjamin Andrews is a guitarist, lyricist, vocalist and legend in Bay Area rock'n'roll. Equally at home playing a dive bar or a festival stage in front of thousands of people, Andrews has spent the last 20 years in and around San Francisco, making a name for himself as a guitar virtuoso with jaw-dropping chops, a natural showmanship and deeply expressive style. As a veteran member of the acclaimed R&B/modern soul band Con Brio, he's performed at the likes of Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, Japan's FujiRock and Australia's Byron Bay BluesFest. 2025's YOU'RE DOING GREAT was Andrews' first major solo work, recorded at Con Brio's Oakland studio. While sweeping, cinematic strings and driving rhythms accompany Andrews' typically stunning guitar work, his soulful vocals take center stage here, drawing the listener close with conflicted meditations on love and self-destruction, death and rebirth. In 2026, SUCCESS ENSEMBLE sees Andrews push himself as a composer, constructing and evoking meaning and movement with a shifting ensemble of favored collaborators.

40th anniversary show: Young Fresh Fellows -from Seattle, WA -The Young Fresh Fellows are back with an electric new toaster, Toxic Youth. Remember their 1989 anthem "Two Guitars Bass & Drums"? Well, nothing has changed, except everything. Hopes have been dashed, but the men still love music. + The Rubinoos -from Berkeley, CA -On November 2, 1976, Jimmy Carter was elected President of the United States. The events of November 3 were less earth-shaking, although it was the day the power pop pioneers The Rubinoos recorded this album. The group walked into CBS Studios on Folsom Street in San Francisco to, as band co-founder and singer Jon Rubin recollects, "have a 'set up and get comfortable in the studio' kind of affair." Guitarist Tommy Dunbar, who started the group more than 50 years ago with his childhood pal Rubin, recalls they were told "something like, 'okay, the tape is going to run, just go ahead and play anything you want'." & Victor Krummenacher -from Riverside, CA -is a co-founder of the bands Camper Van Beethoven and Monks of Doom and a songwriter who has released 11 albums. Krummenacher is also part of the collective The Third Mind with Dave Alvin.

For more than two decades, Langhorne Slim has been a fearless voice in modern Americana, known for his raw emotion and rule-breaking spirit. On his ninth album, The Dreamin' Kind, the Nashville-based songwriter plugs in his electric guitar and dives headfirst into big-hearted, 1970s-style rock & roll. Produced by Greta Van Fleet's Sam F. Kiszka, the record pairs power chords and soaring hooks with the vulnerable storytelling that's long defined Slim's work. "It felt like I was blowing some old shit up so I could plant some new flowers," he says. "I love folk music, but rock & roll tickles the same part of my soul. I wanted to explore that."

El Radio Fantastique is a cinematic, genre-bending band that defies classification. It is led by its founder, Giovanni DiMorente. Channeling disparate past experiences as a grave digger, dumpster diver, and pop star (of the 80s band Times Two), DiMorente fancies and celebrates the broken and crooked, the paradox of finding beauty in things unpleasant, and he and his band celebrate them with sublime melody and raw emotion.

El Ten Eleven's Nowhere Faster, the duo's 16th release, was forged within that unease. Across eight tracks, it considers not just nothingness but velocity--the strange urgency that propels us forward even when the destination remains unclear. We are committed to acceleration, convinced speed itself might save us. The 33-minute album slows just long enough to pose the harder questions: what are we running from, and what do we think we can outrun? That tension appears even in the album's artwork, once again created with longtime collaborator Rob Fleming. It depicts a classic liminal space: familiar, anonymous, quietly unsettling. A stained glass-colored building and a streetlamp blur at the edges, suggesting motion that feels less like escape than enclosure--the kind that traps rather than transports.

Dancing Ghosts Presents: The show is hosted by Dancing Ghosts, San Francisco's Darkwave Dance Party since 2007. Dancing Ghosts founder and resident DJ Xander will be spinning between sets. Strange Boutique rose from the ashes of the DC punk scene surging with the energy of a new burgeoning post-punk scene while embracing an unexpected sense of melody, texture and a bit of mystical color. The group released 3 albums of guitar driven ethereal pop with a touch of mystical imagination and was a fixture of the Washington DC club scene from 1987-1993, ... shows were a veritable gathering of DC's misfits, freaks, goths, punks, scenesters and dreamers. A pair of reunion shows in 2004 and 2019, a dedicated following that never forgot and Monica Richards' success in beloved goth act Faith and the Muse kept interest in the band alive. An unexpected viral explosion of their song "Drown" exposed millions of new listeners to a once 'best kept secret', introducing a new generation to the band's expansive, ethereal world. With an acclaimed new album, Let the Lonely Heart Sing, and captivating live shows in Washington DC and New York City in 2025, Strange Boutique makes a rare trip West for three exclusive live dates in California.

El Ten Eleven, Post-punk, Psychedelic rock-from Los Angeles, CA -We like to believe our lives can be shaped into stories clean arcs, legible meaning but life refuses the outline. Instead, it moves bluntly and without apology, indifferent to our sense of order. Events pile up without resolution, momentum divorced from di rection, motion confused for progress. Sometimes the only refuge left is the nowhere of our own minds. El Ten Eleven's Nowhere Faster , the duo's 16th release, was forged within that unease.

This 7-piece band from Davis has done things the old-fashioned way - earning everything they have with blood, sweat and tears shed on stages throughout the region. It's been more sweat than anything else based on the practically inhuman volume of energy output they generate throughout the course of their relentless performances. Boot Juice defies the typical assumption that a big band with horns is sticking to the well-worn path of funk and jazz. They certainly infuse those genres into the mix. More than anything though, this is an unabashed cosmic rock band intent on taking audiences into an alternate dimension of pure freedom and dance euphoria where the outside world ceases to exist.

Whether behind the piano on a windswept mountainous cliff, at a hallowed venue such as Carnegie Hall, or playing shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the most legendary musicians in history, solo pianist Holly Bowling subverts convention with virtuosic playing, emotional immersion, and a thirst for invention. Acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Relix, and more and sought-after by icons such as Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, and Warren Haynes, she once again flips the script on her 2020 album and second reimagining of Grateful Dead staples entitled Seeking All That's Still Unsung. "When you go to see someone play solo piano, you're not expecting them to stand up, pluck the strings, drum on the frame, hit the strings with mallets, or place magnets and EBows inside of the piano," she smiles

(((folkYEAH!))) Presents : The Wedding Present will be playing a series of concert dates in North America in 2026 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the release of their pivotal long-player, Seamonsters. Following the release of Seamonsters Ð which was recorded by the legendary Steve Albini in twelve days during 1991 Ð The Guardian newspaper noted that: ÒAlbini has given The Wedding Present considerable weight, with GedgeÕs voice trickling between banks of scowling guitarsÓ and went on to feature it in its list of Ô1,000 albums to hear before you dieÕ. Despite its uncompromising sound, the album reached No. 13 in the British album charts and has been hailed as a classic. Seamonsters reviewed by AllMusic: After recording with Steve Albini on their remake of 1990Õs ÔBrassneckÕ single, The Wedding Present decamped to Minnesota to record a full album with the notoriously abrasive producer. It proved to be a perfect match of band and producer, and Seamonsters turned out to be the most emotionally powerful album the band could have hoped to make.

40th Anniversary North American Tour 2026: Do we really have to worry? Is our civilization standing right on the edge of the abyss? Is the Maya calendar actually right, predicting the end of the world on December 21, 2012? New age circles are convinced that the apocalyptic prophecy can be derived from the Mesoamerican civilisation's calendar. "Complete bullshit", reckons Andi Deris, singer of German melodic metal band Helloween. "We will all survive the year 2012 and face an even more positive and energetic future." Helloween have documented how this future could look like, or rather sound like, on their latest studio album Straight Out Of Hell, scheduled right after the alleged doomsday on January 18, 2013. It's a work full of speed and toughness, with optimism and great joy of playing, featuring complex arrangements, strong hooks and plenty of catchy melodies. Or, to let the facts speak for themself: 13 mostly fastpaced songs that turn out to be impressively multi-layered and will completely delight all Helloween fans.

Goldenvoice Presents..The Red Pears Hailing from El Monte, a sleepy suburban town just east of Los Angeles, Henry Vargas (vocals/guitar), and Jose Corona (drums), draw their sound from the spectrum between the early 2000s New York indie rock and grunge scene to the cumbia and corridos that soundtracked their childhoods, mutual friend and bassist Patrick Juarez (bass) expanded their operation. Now a solid 3-piece band, the emerging alt-rockers have come a long way from meeting at a local Battle of the Bands, practicing in their garages, and naming themselves after their favorite color and a pun on the word "pair"-- a subtle nod to sonic inspirations The White Stripes and The Black Keys. + Together Pangea Since they began jamming back in William's Santa Clarita bedroom, Los Angeles rock trio Together Pangea-- William Keegan, Danny Bengston, and Erik Jimenez--have continually challenged themselves with each subsequent offering.
