BISS 6.18.21: Karl D / Will Bernard / Rebirth (x2) / Days Between / Petaluma Fest / Lebo Interview Part II !
Happy June BISS Listers!!
The day we have all been waiting for has arrived and California opened up three days ago! If you have been following my personal posts and through the BISS List, then you know I was deemed high risk from the start so I am cautiously optimistic. However, let’s be here, now, in this moment and let’s relish in it!
I have been slowly and safely getting little bits of musical fixes as the opportunities for live and in person music have arisen in the last few weeks… Yes, of course always with social distancing and caution and a mask as required… There was Jackie Greene with the Tree of Life Band on 5/22 then Melvin & JGB on 5/29 & 5/30 then ALO on 6/4 and CA Honeydrops on 6/5. Then on 6/6, my tech company, P B and Jam produced a virtual benefit concert for HealthRIGHT360.
This weekend, we have tickets for Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe on Friday and Saturday at the Charles Krug Winery in St. Helena (aka Blue Note Napa). Then on Sunday, we have a table for Will Bernard and Freelance Subversives featuring Victor Little, Joe Begale, and Wil Blades at Little Vineyards Family Winery. Thank you BEW Productions & Music From The Vines for this Spring-Summer Covid-safe outdoor music series!! (https://bit.ly/MusicFromTheVines21)
When we last checked in a couple of weeks ago we had a short list of BISS featured events coming up this summer. I told you then about the trend of Lebo appearances in so many of our featured events. We have since added the Petaluma Music Festival to our list of featured series and shows and guess who is the artist at large? YUP, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz! It’s not just that we love this guy, it’s just that he is an awesome hard working musician who plays like a mad man!
Ok. Fine. Who are we kidding? We love Lebo! We love him so much that we had to bring you this huge amazing interview in two parts! Thank you to BISS List contributing Editor Josh Danson! So without further adieu, Liberated: The (Practically Post-Covid) BISS List Interview with Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Part II.

Paper Moon Presents: Summer Concert Series
We are so excited to see our long time and highly respected friends in the music scene taking advantage of the BEAUTIFUL Bruns Amphitheater for a series of shows in June and July. Those of you who went to ALO on 6/4 and 6/5 know how gorgeous and intimate this place is! The Taj Mahal show on July 2nd is SOLD OUT. However, there are still a few tickets for Rebirth Brass Band on the 3rd and 4th of July.
The BISS List crew is going to make a party out of it on July 4th, deviating from our beloved annual 4th of July pilgrimage to High Sierra Music Festival (See you @HSMF next year!) The BISS List crew has its OWN SECTION lined up for the 4th of July Rebirth show! When you buy your ticket from Paper Moon Presents, be sure to look for “Best Available” and then under BISS Tickets, use the code “BARD”. It will be AMAZING to all dance together for Rebirth! Plans are forming for a pre-show picnic on the gorgeous grounds, then we can follow the parade of Giant Puppets into the venue and dance our butts off together. The show will be over early enough (around 9p) that we should find somewhere nearby to watch the fireworks.
Full events, with extra performers, craft vendors, nonprofits tabling, and picnic meals for sale. The venue, nestled in the woods on a protected watershed just outside of Berkeley, has presented theatrical shows for years, but now will open it to concertgoers as well.

The Days Between Festival @ Black Oak Ranch (Hog Farm) ft. two nights of Dark Star Orchestra
As spelled out so far, we see some of the best event producers doing things the right way here in Norcal. This event is no exception. We will be camping at the good old Hog Farm on August 6th and 7th for ‘The Days Between’, an event to honor the life and music of Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead. How is that going to be safe, you ask? A Vax-only event is the answer. Get the shot and you’re good to rock! Jerry was born on August 1, 1942 and died on August 9, 1995. The nine days between Jerry’s birthday and his passing are considered ‘The Days Between’, and this festival is honored to hold the namesake of these hallowed dates.
An intimate, family friendly, COVID-safe music festival, located at the beautiful Black Oak Ranch in Northern California, where oak woodlands and majestic meadows provide a magical setting to gather and enjoy music, camping, food and craft vendors, and community. Proof Of COVID-19 vaccine required.
- August 6th & 7th : 2 nights of Dark Star Orchestra!!

14th Annual Petaluma Music Festival – Keeping Music in the Schools: The Motet, Monophonics, Full Moonalice
Our goal is simple: “keeping music in the schools”. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Petaluma Music Festival Board of Directors believe passionately in the positive influence of music in children’s lives. Proceeds from this annual event will be distributed among Petaluma’s public elementary and secondary schools to provide funding for their music programs. Funding for the arts is problematic in California, as there is never enough funding for all our school’s needs. With your attendance, you are making a difference, and we applaud you!
- August 7th, LIVE + In-Person at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, Petaluma, CA
- Featuring: The Motet, Monophonics, Full Moonalice: The Time Has Come Revue featuring The New Chamber Brothers and the T Sisters, T Sisters (separate set), Ron Artis II & The Truth, Lebo, Artist at Large, SambaDa, The Commonheart, Mestizo Beat, Sebastian Saint James & The Highway Poets, Bandjango Collectif featuring Stella Heath, Kendra McKinley, Black Sheep Brass Band, Dirty Red Barn, Jinx Jones, Bronze Medal Hopefuls
