Any fan knows that bluegrass was the foundation of Jerry Garcia's lifelong commitment to his craft. He would later revisit it in 1973 with the short-lived, yet very influential project, Old and in the Way. It finally came back around in the early 90's when Garcia-Grisman was formed. Even when bluegrass wasn't at the forefront for Jerry, it was always a factor just beneath the surface. Grassomoxoa (a clever nod to the 1969 GD album, Aoxomoxoa) is comprised of four men who are extremely passionate about bluegrass and the Grateful Dead.

Alex Skolnick (born September 29, 1968) is an American musician from Berkeley, California. "Join the African American Center for the opening reception of our new exhibit We've Got Sole: Hip Hop, Hoops and the Rise of Sneaker Culture with a presentation, rap performance, food and refreshments.

Hip Hop Artist, Producer and Educator Marlon Richardson aka UnLearn The World takes you through a timeline of Hip Hop fashion, it's rich history and its influence on Pop culture, from the 90's shiny suit era to the rise of Streetwear and Sneaker culture. This interactive presentation will also include a live performance. Powered by Hip Hop For Change and the Hip Hop Education Center.

As an MC, Songwriter, Producer and Hip Hop Educator Marlon Richardson aka UnLearn The World is a born and bred product of the late 90's New York City and Golden Era of Hip Hop. His work in both music and education is paving a new pathway for artists to integrate community work into their brands, to teach the art of Hip Hop as a new form of critical thinking to the next generation of aspiring creatives. As an artist, he has shared stages and has collaborated with the likes of Wu Tang, KRS-One, Rakim and countless others. As a Hip Hop Educator, he has lectured on Hip Hop culture and creativity extensively from Juvenile detention centers to Harvard University. In 2022, the San Francisco 49ers Foundation awarded him with the Dr. Henry Edwards Follow Your Bliss Award for Education. He has consulted and facilitated programming for Meta (Facebook) and is the Executive Director for the Oakland based non profit Hip Hop For Change."

"Rocco was the bass player, I was in there, and my brother was the drummer. I met "Doc" Kupka back in 1968 and gave him an audition. He came into the band, and we eventually changed our name to the Tower of Power." The reason for the band name change was that they had a specific goal in mind. "We wanted to get into the Fillmore Auditorium, and with a name like the Motowns, dressed in suits with razor cuts, we knew we'd never get in there. We grew our hair long, started to be hippies, and changed our name. Doc then suggested that we start writing our own songs."

PHER, the Oakland native and global singing sensation formerly known as Chris Turner, is a versatile artist with a solid foundation in both jazz tradition and classic soul. Equally comfortable in either genre, PHER's talent and passion for music have made him a standout figure in the industry. Honing his skills in the vibrant Bay Area music scene through programs like The Young Musicians Program, SF School of the Arts, and the SFJazz Allstars, PHER eventually made his way to New York, where he studied at the New School and collaborated with a star-studded list of jazz, soul, R&B, and hip-hop artists. His dedication to music education led him to join the faculty of his alma mater in 2013, teaching voice to students of all levels, including pop artists such as Sean Kingston, 070Shake, and WolfTyla.

For 55 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk, soul music and East Bay Grease."We were a Soul band called The Motowns," recalls Emilio Castillo. "Rocco was the bass player, I was in there, and my brother was the drummer. I met "Doc" Kupka back in 1968 and gave him an audition. He came into the band, and we eventually changed our name to the Tower of Power." The reason for the band name change was that they had a specific goal in mind. "We wanted to get into the Fillmore Auditorium, and with a name like the Motowns, dressed in suits with razor cuts, we knew we'd never get in there. We grew our hair long, started to be hippies, and changed our name. Doc then suggested that we start writing our own songs."
