BISS List 5.23.24: Spotlight on Space Goat w/ Fourth Position + Best of BISS this Week

It’s almost the weekend! Jenni here once more while Pamela recovers from Golden Road Gathering. Miss BISS will be back in your inboxes next week!

Last Week: Pamela caught a bit of Moontricks’ late-night set for us at Golden Road Gathering — keep an eye out on our socials for more GRG videos coming up. Last night, The BISS crew was in full effect at the Black Tie & Tie Dye Gala and we have a reel of Bone Diggers’ take on “Mrs. Robinson”. We also have another one of Gabriel Barkin’s reviews for you, check out a night of Alt-Rock in Oakland with Pond + 26fix.

This Week: Did someone say “Memorial Day weekend” prep? I’m sure lots of you are headed to BottleRock in Napa. For those staying closer to home this week, Bread and Roses celebrate 50 years with their Golden Jam hosted by Joan Beaz & Ben Fong-Torres ft Ron Artis II and Dirty Cello, tonight 5/23 at Sweetwater Music Hall. Friday 5/24 Atta Kid returns to Boom Boom Room (*WIN*). Saturday 5/25 Space Goat + Fourth Postion will be at Music City SF (more on that in our spotlight below) and late-night you can cruise on over to Boom Boom Room for The Good, The Bad & The Fugly guitar onslaught ft Josh Zee, Eric McFadden and Bryan Kehoe (*WIN*). Close out the long weekend with two days (5/26 & 5/27) of Los Lobos at Rancho Nicasio’s BBQ on the Lawn, before we roll into four nights of My Morning Jacket at The Fillmore starting on 5/27.

Also of note for this week, today Stern Grove Festival began reservations for their 2024 season. This year the first batch of tickets for each show are released one month prior to the show date at 2pm. Make sure to check the schedule and mark your calendar for a month ahead so you don’t miss out! In addition to the first round release, the remaining tickets (thousands of tickets) are released randomly in the weeks and days leading up to the show date, so keep checking if you don’t have success or forget after any first round releases.

Space Goat + Fourth Position

May 25th @ Music City SF

Space Goat is an electrifying funk band hailing from Berkeley. Known for their unique blend of virtuosic improvisation, danceable funk grooves, and infectious sing-alongs; these goats free your mind and get your booty to follow. Their mesmerizing performances have earned them a dedicated following throughout the Bay. This will be their debut at Music City SF.

Fourth Position formed in SF in 2019 and have become a favorite in the NorCal scene. This unit of passionate musicians have introduced throngs of live music aficionados to their unique blend of danceable, original CA Psychedelic Funk and Soul. As innovative song structure melds with sophisticated improvisation, Fourth Position smash constructs and weave a web of ecstatic delight for each audience they enthrall.
