Happy Thursday BISS Listers!

Jenni here again while Pamela recovers from High Sierra. I heard it was a fabulous Fourth of July weekend. We’ve been sharing reels from the stage this week with more to come, make sure you are following the BISS List and keep an eye out in your social feeds. On to this week! Old school taste meets new school bass with Smoked Out Soul + Suzanimal tonight at Rickshaw Stop. And it looks like there are still a few reservations available tonight for Victor Little at Dawn Club. Friday night Katdelic ft RonKat Spearman brings the (p)funk to Boom Boom Room (*WIN*). On Saturday, piano pounder Josh Gelfand will be playing all the songs from your one friend’s favorite playlist at Madrone, while over in Berkeley at the Greek Theatre, Dark Star Orchestra will take the stage with Melvin Seals & JBG to celebrate 40 years of The Rex Foundation. Sunday is all about Stern Grove Festival with The Commodores & The Grease Traps.

Speaking of Stern Grove, did you grab ticket reservations today for Herbie Hancock on August 11th? I was in the Eventbrite line at 2pm sharp and by 2:04pm I was notified that all of today’s tickets were already gone! If you also missed out, there are still two more chances on July 19th at 8am and July 27th at 12pm — hopefully we’ll have better luck then!

High Sierra Music Festival

There are few music festivals with the legacy of the High Sierra Music Festival (HSMF). After more than thirty years, HSMF has truly become far more than the sum of its parts. Sure, there’s a ton of world-class music on several stages, parades, activities for kids, crafts and vendors and killer food and all that. And of course there’s the camping scene, a hippie town that springs up almost overnight on the Plumas County Fairgrounds for the four-day festival around the Fourth of July each year. What makes HSMF unique is the legacy of community. After more than three decades, some attendees – and performers too – can literally say they grew up at the fest.
