Dead Roses: Todd Bugbee's Dead Roses: SF Bay's badass Grateful Dead tribute: Sometimes funky, a little trippy, always full of energy and extremely danceable. Nate Beltz, Preston Barnes, Stephanie Mandela, James Miller, Tim Baker and Todd Bugbee. + Grassomoxoa: The fine art of bluegrass and the music of the Grateful Dead have been linked before the Dead even existed. Any fan knows that bluegrass was the foundation of Jerry Garcia's lifelong commitment to his craft. He would later revisit it in 1973 with the short-lived, yet very influential project, Old and in the Way. It finally came back around in the early 90's when Garcia-Grisman was formed. Even when bluegrass wasn't at the forefront for Jerry, it was always a factor just beneath the surface. Grassomoxoa (a clever nod to the 1969 GD album, Aoxomoxoa) is comprised of four men who are extremely passionate about bluegrass and the Grateful Dead.

$20 General Admission Doors at 7:30pm. Show from 8:15-10:30pm with one intermission All-Ages are welcome $3 off each ticket when you use the code earlybird20 at checkout. Offer ends December 28th. Promo Codes are not applicable at the door. Codes are not case sensitive, but must be typed as one word. As the days grow darker, and you reach for something soft, Gillian Grogan and Hanna Haas invite you to join them for a special live performance of The Quiet Show: Soft Songs for Darker Days. The Quiet Show was born in an effort to bring people together to hear unplugged, acoustic music during Grogan’s earlier New England chapter. The two have since revived the show here in California to recreate that spaciousness for both story and song, to perform their most tender tunes, which often fall to a whisper and even play with silence. In particular, as the nights grow long and mirror the swelling darkness in our broader world, it feels right to gather and listen and offer our delicate truths. To hold a candle to the best and worst of it all. They need no excuse to sing and harmonize but relish the opportunity to learn each others’ catalogs and share some exquisite, collaborative covers they’ve found along the way. Their first Quiet Show sold out almost immediately, so this winter, they’re bringing The Quiet Show all across California and featuring some of their favorite, quietest local songwriters and special guests along the way. This tour finale in San Francisco promises to be a very, very special night. Your advanced ticket purchases help keep independent musicians and venues going strong. Pre-sales put the minds of everyone involved from artists to promoters to venue staff at ease and free up precious resources to enhance the actual art and experience. Thank you so much. Gillian Grogan is a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and van-dweller with roots in Sonoma County. Grogan has woven bits of folk, indie, rock, and nature itself into a sonic landscape “unlike anything else you’ve heard in 'folk' music today” (Ear To The Ground). Tickled strings, floating vocals, hammered riffs and belted requests—she has taken the plot and given it curves, let it swell and shrink back again. Untamed and untethered, her pure yet earthy voice will silence the room one moment and have it in stitches the next. NPR Music's Felix Contreras calls her songwriting "six strings and the truth." She calls it “full-bodied folk.” Grogan is working on her second studio album at 2200 Studios in Sausalito, CA (formerly The Record Plant) with Grammy-nominated co-producer Ben Bloomberg and Grammy-nominated recording engineer Damien Lewis. Honey Moon explores questions without answers, love without purpose, and chords without resolve. It embraces readiness without preparation, vulnerabilities without judgement, and seeks to release the present from the past. It is a collection of songs and interludes that speak to a single truth—that it is our flaws which make us most beautiful, just as it is the dust and pollution in the earth’s atmosphere which casts a warm amber hue on the moon at the horizon, as it rises, as it falls, and rises again. https://gilliangrogan.com https://linktr.ee/gilliangrogan Hanna Haas is a songwriter drawn to the dance of light and dark. Based in the Bay Area, she’s come to call the entire West Coast home. She describes her music as “contemplative folk,” identifying with artists like Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, and Feist for their alternate tunings and mesmerizing melodies. Inspired by the places she’s lived, Hanna sings of the dramatic cliffs of Big Sur, the California sun, and the vast, open sky of the Pacific Northwest. Hanna loves to engage her audiences in sweet storytelling and laughter, leaving her audience in a state of heart-felt introspection. https://hanna-haas.com Dead Nettle is the musical embodiment of Lindsey Wall’s intuitive songwriting, possessing elements of indie-folk with hints of grungy undertones. https://www.deadnettlemusic.com https://www.instagram.com/deadnettle.music Recommended If You Like: Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell, Feist

Cherub Dream presents: As foretold by us here, the forthcoming album from San Francisco based Pocket Full of Crumbs is here, and with it, another single. The single in question is "I" and in the humble opinion of I, is a *perfect* second single. It builds off perfectly from their first "In My Home" with an added layer of phuzzy goodness and still feels part of a cohesive unit without being a rehash of what they just did. They continue down the slacker shoegaze trail like a goddamn Johnny Appleseed - planting seeds that will eventually mature into full grown guitar pedals. + MyVeronica is an LA-based indie/emo-influenced rock band formed by UCLA alumni in 2021, featuring Mia Lin (vocals), Charlie Havenick (drums), Tristin Souvannarath (guitar), and Hovhannes Tamrazyan (bass), known for nostalgic sounds reminiscent of 90s bands like The Breeders and Sunny Day Real Estate, delivering cathartic music with lyrical hooks and guitar effects, recently releasing a split EP Farewell Skylines.

California indie band, Rainbow Girls, is known for their haunting harmonies, powerful songwriting, and unfiltered yet poised stage presence. Their live show is an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experience that will make you both laugh and cry. The band met in Southern California and formed at a weekly open mic night they hosted in their college house -- known as Rainbow House. They spent their first few summers as a band, busking & couch-surfing across Europe on one-way plane tickets. In 2016, Erin Chapin, Caitlin Gowdey, & Vanessa May pivoted toward a raw, stripped-down acoustic sound, performing around a single condenser mic. This spotlighted their intricate harmonies and cemented their place in the roots music scene.

(((folkYEAH!))) Presents: Ryley Walker currently resides in New York City. But his latest LP is a Chicago record in spirit. The masterful Course In Fable, the songwriter's 5th solo effort, draws from the deep well of that city's fertile 1990s scene, when bands like Tortoise, The Sea and Cake and Gastr del Sol were reshaping the underground, mixing and matching indie rock, jazz, prog and beyond. Walker spent his formative years in Chicago, absorbing those heady sounds and finding ways to make them his own At first in folk- rock troubadour mode, it makes sense that he's arrived at this point; each LP has grown more intricate and assured, his influences distilling into something original and unusual. To put it simply: Course In Fable is Walker's best record yet, full of active imagination and endless possibilities. + David Pajo is a musician from Louisville, KY. He's played in such bands as Slint, Gang Of Four, Stereolab, Tortoise, and Interpol. His long running solo output through Drag City records has been under the monikers Papa M

For 55 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk, soul music and East Bay Grease."We were a Soul band called The Motowns," recalls Emilio Castillo. "Rocco was the bass player, I was in there, and my brother was the drummer. I met "Doc" Kupka back in 1968 and gave him an audition. He came into the band, and we eventually changed our name to the Tower of Power." The reason for the band name change was that they had a specific goal in mind. "We wanted to get into the Fillmore Auditorium, and with a name like the Motowns, dressed in suits with razor cuts, we knew we'd never get in there. We grew our hair long, started to be hippies, and changed our name. Doc then suggested that we start writing our own songs."

Analog Dog makes genre fluid music in San Francisco, USA. Hailing from all corners of the country, the band came together in and around the hallowed musical breeding grounds of Golden Gate Park, with the intent to carry on the spirit of the legendary musical city. With each member drawing on diverse inspirations and musical backgrounds, from self-taught to classically trained, they unite over a common love for genre-bending composition and improvisation. The evolution of Boot Juice has been a magnificent phenomenon to behold over the past few years. This seven-piece band from Davis has done things the old-fashioned way - earning everything they have with blood, sweat and tears shed on stages throughout the region. It's been more sweat than anything else based on the practically inhuman volume of energy output they generate throughout the course of their relentless performances. Boot Juice defies the typical assumption that a big band with horns is sticking to the well-worn path of funk and jazz. They certainly infuse those genres into the mix. More than anything though, this is an unabashed cosmic rock band intent on taking audiences into an alternate dimension of pure freedom and dance euphoria!

KC Turner Presents: Big Brother and the Holding Company-- along with bands like The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service - is considered one of the original, first wave of great psychedelic bands that came out of San Francisco in the summer of 1965. The embryo that was to become Big Brother and the Holding Company began when Peter Albin, a 21 year old, aspiring Folk Blues guitarist, who had been a part of South Bay Roots' music scene that also gave us Jerry Garcia, Robert Hunter and the Grateful Dead, met Sam Andrew, a 23 year old guitarist who'd been in bands since his teens in Okinawa and had studied languages and philosophy at University of SF and the Sorbonne.

"PROVE YOU'RE NOT A ROBOT" (2025/Flatiron Records) is the sixth LP by Brooklyn based Alex Skolnick Trio (AST). The album's title has multiple meanings. On the one hand, it reflects the effort to hold onto our collective humanity in an era of increasing reliance on technology. Secondly, it represents the notion that the process of direct human interaction - particularly music that captures inspired improvisations and compositions, such as those heard on this LP - cannot be replaced with AI (which, as of this writing, is the latest and most disruptive development in tech). Alex Skolnick (born September 29, 1968) is an American musician from Berkeley, California. He is best known as the lead guitarist and one of the songwriters of the thrash metal band Testament and has played with several other bands, including The Alex Skolnick Trio, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Savatage and the heavy metal supergroup Metal Allegiance.

The partnership began onstage, where Simo and Dickinson first shared the spotlight as touring members of Phil Lesh and Friends.

They are also the band that launched the career of Janis Joplin. They are the band that recorded 'Cheap Thrills', which has been voted by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest classic rock albums of all time and which, along with their hit version of "Piece of My Heart" is in the Grammy Hall of Fame, and the Library of Congress. Their energy, spirit and their story define a time when music was at the center of a cultural revolution, yet their music is still listened to and loved. Today, founding members Peter Albin, bass and Dave Getz, drums, who have been playing together for 60 years, continue to bring their original music, the music that they created with the great and legendary Janis Joplin, to audiences all over the world. Darby Gould, formally with Jefferson Starship, will be singing the great Janis/Big Brother classics 'Piece of My Heart', 'Summertime", 'Down On Me', 'Ball and Chain', 'Me & Bobby McGee', 'Mercedes Benz' and others.

JaM Cellars Presents: Uniquely powerful and massively influential, the music that Cream made in three short years from 1966 to 1968 poses huge challenges to any players hoping to re-create its match of force and finesse. Thankfully, two members of Sons of Cream have a considerable advantage, being the very talented offspring of two of the three rock legends in the pioneering '60s power trio behind such hits as "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room," and classic albums like 'Disraeli Gears.' Kofi Baker was still a toddler when he got his first drumming lessons from his dad Ginger Baker. By the time he was a teenager, he was playing professionally with other greats of his father's generation, including Manfred Mann's Steve Waller and Randy California of Spirit. Meanwhile, Malcolm - son of Cream bassist Jack Bruce - developed his own reputation as a musician, collaborating with Black Sabbath's Bill Ward and former Rolling Stones and Bluesbreakers guitarist Mick Taylor.

Galvanized by an insatiable hunger to play rock & roll, singer-songwriter Jack Friel, and drummer Bobby Franz, formed Treasures in 2019, adding guitarist Corey Largent and bassist Raoul Aguilera to the mix, the newly formed outfit spent the pandemic lockdown writing and recording demos. Those demos reached producer Mikel Ross (Corrosion of Conformity) and engineer Travis Kasperbauer (The Go-Go's) who recognized what they'd found and promptly put the band in a pro studio environment. The bands' first LP, Gold Rush City, delivered what many refer to as a "modern classic", lush with memorable hooks and melodic passages that surprised and delighted modern and classic rock lovers alike.+ San Francisco post punk band Strange Cities' sound reflects the foggy, jagged, dystopian landscape that inspired their name. & Fake Your Own Death have been compared to Fontaines DC, Echo and the Bunnymen and Sonic Youth in both local and national press

Earl Thomas Bluestory Telling A New Story About the Blues Step into Bluestory -- the electrifying new production by Earl Thomas. Created exclusively for the Biscuits & Blues intimate cabaret setting, Thomas strips the blues to its bare soul and rebuilds it as pure theatre. With acoustic slide guitar, stand up bass, drums, and harmonica, Thomas creates a sound that is raw, refined, and irresponsible. From the haunting cries of Robert Johnson, the grit of Jimmy Reed and Elmore James, the power of Muddy Waters, and the elegance of B.B. King, Bluestory is the living evolution of the blues -- culminating in Thomas's own acclaimed original compositions; the songs covered by Etta James, Solomon Burke, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, and Sir Tom Jones.

Called "a force on the rise" by JazzTimes magazine, Alison Shearer's explosive career hits refresh on what it means to be a jazz saxophonist today. Shearer is the kind of artist who is always asking "why." She wants to find the similarities between seemingly disparate things, and in doing so hopefully find something human in everything. Shearer has performed across the United States, Europe, Canada, and South Asia, both with her quartet and as a member of Red Baraat and Sunny Jain's Wild Wild East. She has performed with notable artists such as Kurt Elling, Nate Smith, Charlie Hunter, Ben Platt, Billy Porter, Kelly O'Hara, Jason Robert Brown, Josh Groban, and the wonderful Orchestra of St. Luke's. She has appeared on both NPR's Tiny Desk and KEXP with Sunny Jain's Wild Wild East.
