Midtown Dreamers is a Palo Alto folk-rock band with a passion for creating uplifting, expressive and soulful nmusic. They came together as a response to the social isolation of Covid back in the summer of 2020, and bonded over musical influences spanning from Elvis to 80’s alternative to 90’s grunge and pop. They perform regularly at the Cal Ave Farmers Market in midtown Palo Alto and at local music events, building a loyal crowd of regulars and exposing younger generations to artists such as Neil Young, REM, Tom Petty, as well as British alternative such as Radiohead, The Cure, and The Smiths. They also perform original compositions, with a demo in the works. Come out and dance, have a drink, and maybe hear some of your favorite songs! Andrew MacKenzie will open for Midtown Dreamers. He has crafted music since picking up the guitar in 1993. A singer, guitarist, and songwriter, his sound is a raw blend of grit and soul—drawing inspiration from the thunderous energy of Guns N’ Roses, the grunge poetry of Nirvana, and the heartfelt storytelling of Ray LaMontagne. With decades of experience and a voice that carries both edge and emotion, Andrew continues to write and perform music that resonates deeply and authentically.

Originally hailing from Toronto, Canada but now making his home in the bay area, John Mackay has had a long career in the music business as an award-winning performer, composer/arranger and recording artist. He has performed around the world to rave reviews, playing his own music and the music of well-known composers and songwriters. John's latest album, released earlier this year, features his trio playing original, highly energetic jazz arrangements of the music of Leonard Cohen. The main jazz radio station in the Bay area, KCSM, has given the recording steady airplay since its release last February. https://www.johnmackaymusic.com/ Conspiracy of Venus is a San Francisco-based ensemble of treble voices that sings contemporary music by icons of the singer-songwriter tradition, from artists such as Joni Mitchell to PJ Harvey. We also sing music by Duke Ellington, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, and original compositions by our arranger/director, Joyce Todd McBride. Recent projects include s series of arrangements of local singer-songwriters, including Brian Belknap, Rhys, and Paul Pot. We will be performing Joyce's settings of the poetry of Bertolt Brecht at the SF International Arts Festival, in 2026. Established in 2007, the group has performed at all of the Bay Area's finest venues, and has toured New York City twice. We are the sister choir to the men's choir Conspiracy of Beards. Joyce Todd McBride's arrangements celebrate the richness of the song texts, and her settings often play with the harmonic, rhythmic, and contrapuntal possibilities they conjure up. The singers of Conspiracy of Venus come from a wide variety of musical backgrounds, and bring considerable skills of interpretation to these great songs! http://www.conspiracyofvenus.com/ https://www.facebook.com/conspiracyofvenus https://www.youtube.com/@conspiracyofvenus5410 https://www.instagram.com/conspiracyofvenus/ The San Francisco Leonard Cohen Festival, founded in 2018, is an annual celebration dedicated to honoring the poetry, music, and spirit of the legendary songwriter, poet, and author. Presented each November by Conspiracy of Beards—San Francisco’s renowned 30-member male choir devoted to Cohen’s work—the festival has grown from its early beginnings into a multi-day, multi-venue event that draws poets, musicians, artists, and audiences from across the Bay Area and beyond. The festival emphasizes fresh interpretations of Cohen’s work, encouraging artists to reshape his words and melodies through their own creative lenses. This open, inventive approach results in a diverse program of performances, readings, and collaborations that keep Cohen’s timeless themes of love, longing, humor, and spirituality alive for new generations. Together, the festival and the choir invite audiences to conspire in celebration of one of the 20th century’s most enduring and influential voices. The result is a vibrant gathering that honors Cohen’s legacy with creativity, reverence, and joy. Recommended If You Like: Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Thelonious Monk

San Francisco’s Conspiracy of Beards perform their new show, The Unified Heart of Leonard Cohen, celebrating Cohen’s words, music, and contemplations on “The Order of the Unified Heart,” the symbol of two hearts intertwined that appears on the cover of the 1984 poetry collection Book of Mercy. This book inspired the 1985 album Various Positions, which includes some of Cohen’s most iconic songs, including “If It Be Your Will,” “Dance Me to the End of Love,” and “Hallelujah.” The Crux is a mad scientist’s music laboratory, where songs are presented as theatrical experiments with odd and beautiful intensity: lullabies to drink your morning coffee to, gospel songs for the faithless, pirate shanties for people who get seasick, and swing music for the graceless. The Crux has appeared as chain-rattling klezmer folk punks, an unhinged revival service, a theatrical film-noir jazz combo, and more. This band is a true North Bay institution with a revolving cast of musicians assembled and coaxed into action by regional impresario Josh Windmiller. The Crux will present Cohen’s New Skin for the Old Ceremony and other favorites. San Francisco Poet Laureate Genny Lim will open the evening, accompanied by cellist Kathryn Bates.

Instrumentals, high energy grooves, and vocals shared by all, the quartet features a backwoods toolbox of acoustic guitar, "banjotar" (a 6-string guitar tuned banjo), mandolin, fiddle, hand & mouth percussion, and upright bass that create a sound of memories

The dream-rock band Belly blazed a bright trail in the '90s, releasing two albums full of taut, yet wondrous music that was memorable for its rumbling bass lines and insistent drumming as it was for its glittering riffs and airy vocals. Their 2018 release Dove, which was recorded with friend of the band Paul Q. Kolderie, places Belly back on that trail, bridging the gaps between reverbed-out bliss and spaghetti-western drone and muscular, hook-forward pop. Belly came together in 1991, when vocalist-guitarist Tanya Donelly (Throwing Muses, The Breeders) began playing with brothers (and fellow Rhode Islanders) Tom (guitar) and Chris (drums) Gorman, as well as bassist Fred Abong.

KEXP Present US Tour 2025: In the past decade, Cut/Copy, Australian synth-pop indietronica, dancepunk, has truly become an international act. Touring across the world, headlining massive sold-out shows, and slated on prime slots of prestigious festivals worldwide such as Coachella, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza in the US; Primavera in Spain, Pitchfork in Paris; Summer Sonic in Japan; and Big Day Out in Australia. They've released four critically praised albums and accumulated more than a thousand tour dates in the process, the great majority of which have been to sold out audiences. Cut/Copy's high-energy live show is matched only by the beautiful complexity of their songs. They layer large swaths of melody, sections with dissonance, nods to many genres, and package them into coherent pop songs. The result can make large groups of people gather together and explode with joy. There is a Cut/Copy song for everyone, and their songs tend to be ageless -- suitable for both teenage angst and cocktail parties.

THE SAM CHASE TRIO, also known as “The God Particle Of Music,” by all who have hypothesized of his existence before his discovery 10 years ago, eminent singer-songwriter The Sam Chase strides out of the hadron collider flanked on one side by Chandra Johnson, violin heroine, and on the other by Devon McClive, renowned and feared cellist at large. Their songs matter to the masses in the same way that the Higgs boson gives mass to all matter. Their music is the Big Bang to a universe of sound. Some say that their music has the potential to destroy the universe, but it is a risk that we should be willing to take. This is what you get when deftly bowed strings collide with ironclad songwriting. This is the pure distillation of adventure and heartache of American song. https://thesamchase.com/epk-the-sam-chase-trio/ https://tinyurl.com/n9pu3ne5 https://www.instagram.com/thesamchase/ https://www.youtube.com/@thesamchase Devon McClive and Sons is an indie-folk trio from San Francisco. With the jazz stylings of the “sons” mixed with a voice that carries a deep soulful resonance, the trio creates hauntingly beautiful songs that stay with you long after the music fades. The instrumentation of voice, cello, piano, and drums brings a fresh, mixed-genre style to the music, with moments of folk, jazz, country, and chamber-pop. Drawing inspiration from the eclectic spirit of the Bay Area, McClive’s music is a reflection of both vulnerability and strength, weaving stories of personal introspection and universal emotion. The sultry melodies, paired with evocative lyrics, create an intimate atmosphere that invites listeners into the world of Devon McClive and Sons. https://www.facebook.com/DevonMcClive/ https://www.instagram.com/devonmcclive/

Who is the Sky Tour: With this offering, David Byrne (Talking Heads) continues his lifelong exploration of human connection and the potential for societal unity against the chaotic backdrop of the world. Who Is the Sky? is particularly cinematic, humorous and joyful, but often with a lesson baked in -- that love is unexplainable, that enlightenment means very different things to different people and that it's always a good idea to moisturize, whether you wake up the next morning with skin like a baby or not. Most importantly, the songs evince Byrne's gift for riding the razor's edge of avant-garde and accessible pop.

Jam Cellars Presents: STILL ME (STILL WE) Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to found and front The Nazz, the quintessential `60's psychedelic group. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut offering, the legendary Runt. But it was 1972's seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight, prompting the press to unanimously dub him 'Rock's New Wunderkind'.

Vintage SF Punk/NewWave w/ MUTANTS: Fronted by Fritz Fox, alongside fellow singers Sue White and Sally Webster, the Mutants' were formed in 1977 by seven local art school students. They found inspiration in the wildly diverse strains of punk rock emanating at the time, as well as Andy Warhol's Factory, John Waters' Dreamlanders, low budget filmmakers George and Mike Kuchar, and perhaps most intensely, San Francisco's glitter-and-makeup adorned performance art troupe, the Cockettes. The fledgling Mutants quickly built a fervent local following based on their energetic, art-damaged live shows.

Named in tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and his influence in introducing Eastern culture and music into the world of Western rock & roll, the Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in San Francisco, CA, in 1990. Some 40 different members passed through the group's ranks over the next half-decade, but their focal point always remained singer/guitarist Anton Newcombe, who along with bassist Matt Hollywood, guitarist Dean Taylor, organist Mara Regal, accordionist Dawn Thomas, drummer Brian Glaze, and "Spokesperson for the Revolution" Joel Gion, recorded the Massacre's 1995 shoegazer-influenced debut LP, 'Methodrone.' A collection of early recordings, 'Spacegirl and Other Favorites,' followed on the band's own Tangible label in early 1996, and was the first of four Brian Jonestown Massacre LPs to appear that year. Next up was the brilliant, 'Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request,' a full-blown homage to the Stones' glorious psychedelic-era excesses.

Roar In The Fall: Though Robert Plant is, literally and figuratively, the biggest name on the cover art for Saving Grace, he would be the first to say that the album is very much a group effort, with its title also serving as this new band's moniker. The group members were drawn together by a shared love of roots music both vintage and modern--of blues, folk, gospel, country and those tantalizing sounds that lay in between. Despite Plant's iconic status as an artist since his days with Led Zeppelin, Saving Grace managed to start out in 2019, casually and somewhat discreetly, as a local project. The players had been working collaboratively for barely a year, even serving as an unheralded opening act on a handful of dates with Fairport Convention when the pandemic intervened and any formal plans to tour or release music were temporarily shelved. That turned out to be less setback than serendipity. It allowed Saving Grace time to gestate, to find a collective voice.

We have a fun-loving sound created from a combination of musical influences from folk, blues, classic rock, jam band, americana, and bluegrass. We write unique, original songs with simple arrangements, understated acoustic instrumentation (guitar, bass, ukulele, mandolin, and light percussion), and two-part harmony vocals. Our song choices range from upbeat stomp and holler, plaintive ballads, funky, folky, or just plain fun. The Back Porch Trio performs from a collection of their own songs mixed with clever concepts of popular cover tunes. Rosie Wetzel (ukulele and vocals), Steve Hahm (acoustic guitar and vocals) and Jeff Taylor (bass) have known one another through different musical groups and combos for over 15 years now. Whiskerman is a rock-and-roll overture to our great unraveling. Over the last decade the Oakland-based band has developed an underground reputation for tackling the sublime with their ambitious songwriting, thunderous stage show, and acute lyricism. They have since emerged as an engine of the Bay Area's revitalized psychedelic and festival scenes. Following their, uh, controversial performance at the Crazy Horse last summer, some wondered whether they would be returning. Well, are you going to stop drinking whiskey just because it might not be good for you? Whiskerman made a major splash with a pair of acclaimed sets at the High Sierra Music Festival and their unmistakably complex allure is too riveting to deny.

Formed by guitarist/composer Omar Rodrguez-Lopez and singer/lyricist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, The Mars Volta rose from the ashes of El Paso punk-rock firebrands At The Drive-In in 2001. On a mission to "honour our roots and honour our dead", The Mars Volta made music that fused the Latin sounds Rodrguez-Lopez was raised on with the punk and underground noise he and Bixler-Zavala had immersed themselves in for years, and the futuristic visions they were tapping into.

$15 General Admission Doors at 7:30pm. Show from 8:15-10:30pm with one intermission All Ages Straddling the smokey smoothness of soul's '70s heyday and the freewheeling studio experimentation of modern pop and R&B, Motenko is one of Austin music's best kept secrets. Whether he's front and center as a singer-songwriter or serving as a journeyman keys player for acts like Wild Child and Jade Bird, Motenko stands out with a knack for tasteful texture and groove. Inspired by the free creativity of the modern recording process, where he exists in a state of constant play, repurposing sounds as instruments and embracing a liberal use of vocal layering, Motenko's own recordings have become more experimental. A longtime fan of ‘70s R&B like The Meters and the milestone recordings that came out of the mythical Muscle Shoals, Motenko's material has evolved to also embrace influences as diverse as Steve Lacy and Mac DeMarco. On the new Austin Smith-produced single "Lifted," that diversity of sound comes through in the marriage of hip-hop grooves and sultry electric keys and organ, which then give way to a gospel-like chorus, where Motenko's vocals are joined by members of Sir Woman. With a steadily increasing rolodex of painstakingly curated sounds and a growing suite of production and instrumental tools to expand his sonic palette, one thing is certain: Motenko's only limit is his imagination. https://motenkomusic.com/ https://www.instagram.com/mo_tenko/ https://www.facebook.com/Motenkomusic/ https://www.tiktok.com/@mo_tenko https://www.youtube.com/c/motenko https://open.spotify.com/artist/6GiZj3j9eJreWT3gDJXZWP?si=TUi1VKO2SEKTQIbtQjnqkg With big 80s hooks, lush harmonies, spacey soundscapes, and heady jams, Ghost Coach’s music lives somewhere between modern indie rock and retro art pop. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the core songwriting duo of Nate Semprebon (lead vocals and keys) and Kiel Williams (lead guitar and vocals) is joined by Nick Servidio (guitar and vocals). https://www.instagram.com/ghostcoachband/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtIiT-e-Gjyh99fDHZ4H3Tg Recommended If You Like: Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway

Ten Crowns Tour: After Erasure's last two fabulous albums - 2020's The Neon and its 2021 companion piece Day-Glo (Based On A True Story), full of fascinating experimental reconstructions of The Neon's tracks - Bell threw himself into writing with Dave Aude, a producer with whom he's been close for over a decade. Dave met Andy while DJing at a club in 2010 run by a mutual friend, Stephen Moss, who became Andy's partner and husband (Stephen and Andy live together in London and Atlanta). Working with someone who is not Vince Clarke introduces a new set of dynamics, Andy says - although Erasure fans should know that forty years on, they are still going strong and recently reunited to begin work on the next Erasure album.
