INDIAN JAZZ FUSION: To celebrate his 70th birthday George Brooks is reuniting SUMMIT, whose ground-breaking eponymous CD was recorded 25 years ago. The reunion features the original band members minus legendary percussionist Zakir Hussain who passed away in December of 2024. After recording two albums with Brooks for Moment Records, Zakir co-produced this album for Brooks’ Earth Brother Music Label. We are thrilled that Selvaganesh Vinayakram, Zakir’s rhythm partner in Shakti (with John McLaughlin), will step in to handle the percussion duties left by Zakir-ji’s departure.
