A Journey to 19th-Century London: The Great Dickens Christmas Fair

Stepping into The Great Dickens Christmas Fair is like stepping back in time to 19th-century London. The transformation of the Cow Palace into the bustling streets of Victorian England is nothing short of magical.
Every detail is impeccably crafted, from the cobblestone pathways to the ornate shopfronts, and even the delightful characters you encounter along the way.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dickens himself—what a charming gentleman!—and also chatted with Kevin Patterson, the Executive Producer of the event. His family’s history with immersive experiences is extraordinary. Did you know his parents started the very first Renaissance Faire in the U.S. and brought the Dickens Fair to life in the 1970s?
The level of immersion is astounding. Every shopkeeper, performer, and artisan stays completely in character.
There’s so much to see and do: enchanting performances happening all around, delicious food to enjoy, and even a chance to join in some Dickensian-style line dancing.
For me, the food was a highlight! There’s something for every taste, from hearty meat pies to sweet confections.
What made the experience even more special was going with a group of friends who dressed in period attire—it felt like we were truly part of the story.
As the day unfolded, I was continually amazed by the attention to detail and the sheer joy on the faces of visitors and performers alike.
If you’re looking for an unforgettable holiday adventure, I can’t recommend The Great Dickens Christmas Fair enough. It runs every weekend through December 22nd at the Cow Palace. Don’t miss your chance to visit Charles Dickens’ London this season!
