KARL DENSON’S SEXY 69th BIRTHDAY
at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco

Karl Denson celebrated his “Sexy 69^th” birthday at the Fillmore on Saturday night. As usual, Denson was backed by his band Tiny Universe, and for this special evening he was joined by special guests Jackie Greene and Jelly Joseph. DJ Dan Gordo opened the show.

For two hours, Denson and friends rocked the Fillmore with epic funk and soul. Highlights included Joseph belting a cover of Ann Peebles’ “I can’t Stand the Rain” and a raging version of Denson’s Fela Kuti-inspired “Elephants” toward the end of the set. But hell, it was all good, man!

(It was also my nephew Tanner’s first visit to the Fillmore, so we got him a front row spot on the rail. Because that’s how we treat our guests here at BISS!)
