The Freddy Jones Band and The Samples are two prominent American roots-rock and alternative-pop bands from the 1990s indie-rock scene who frequently tour together, linked musically by longtime bassist Rich Ross, who has played in both groups. The Samples formed in Boulder, Colorado, led by singer-songwriter Sean Kelly play reggae-infused pop, folk rock, Freddy Jones Band formed in the late 1980s in Chicago by frontman and primary songwriter Marty Lloyd.
