BISS List 10.22.25 Spotlight on Halloween FreakFunktacular (10.31) + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy National Nut Day BISS Listers! 🥜 I am a nut, you are a nut, we are all nuts – so it’s our day today! (And you know I mean that in the best possible way!)

Before we dive in, I just want to say thank you for all the sweet messages after last week’s edition. So many of you wrote to tell me I’m the sweetest, which means you actually read the part where I said go tell someone they’re the sweetest! It totally made my week hearing from you. You really are the sweetest too. 💜

Last Weekend, I was part of the team that helped produce a beautiful celebration that kicked off Friday at The Chapel with Quarters of Change fusing 90s alt hooks, space rock, and 70s grooves, and continued Saturday at The Greek for the nearly sold-out Djo show with Post Animal opening. The energy carried through the whole weekend, from the music to the people to the pure joy of seeing everyone so connected and alive in it. Thank you to BEW for having me on your team!

I still managed to sneak in a few of my own adventures. I continued with Buckethead at The Warfield on Friday, where he shredded his way through a full-on mind-bending set that reminded me why I’m a total sucker for guitar. Then I stopped by Azkia Malik & Rhoyal Baib’e & Friends at Boom Boom Room, where a lineup of local artists and DJs kept the room moving late into the night. On Saturday afternoon, I also swung by the Cask Whiskey and Blues Fest on Annie Alley, which was the perfect little taste of the downtown action before heading to The Greek. The streets were alive with people sharing their voices and energy all around.

The Halloween FreakFunktacular features The Humidors with their horn-driven, high-energy funk-soul grooves, Katdelic led by Parliament-Funkadelic alum RonKat mixing funk, rock, EDM, and hip-hop to keep the dance floor moving, and Noir Burlesque bringing a wild burlesque spectacle of comedy, striptease, and variety acts. Plus costume contest with prizes including free admissions, exclusive booth for a night and more.

Steal Your Faight w/ Mason’s Children

Mason’s Children roll back home to San Francisco for Steal Your Faight with a psychedelic musical explosion of the undying love that exists for the Grateful Dead. Mason’s Children bring to stage more than just recreations of your favorite Dead tunes… they embody the authentic flower child vibration and the primal, free-wheeling era of Grateful Dead music from 1966 to 1972.

Alice Cooper & Judas Priest:
Rock for the Faithful

Two legendary rock beasts, Alice Cooper and Judas Priest, brought chaos, confetti, and full-on metal spectacle to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View last Tuesday. From Cooper’s theatrical mayhem including swords, straitjackets, and a 12-foot puppet to Judas Priest’s blistering leather-and-stud assault, it was a wild night.
