BISS List 12.14.2018 : BEST OF BISS THRU NYE AND BEYOND!

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year BISS Listers! Is it just me or did this year just FLY right by? I cannot believe that it’s already December 14th… Not sure if too many of you would know the significance of that date but yeah… it’s a doozy! I never know what to call a day like this… Anniversary never sounds like the right word.
I don’t want to get too deep and be a total bummer during the holiday season, but the fact is, today is “Bo Bye Day” and I feel the need to say a little something…  And if not here, where? (BISS!)
Dear Bo, As you might already know, life has been up and down since you left us. But as you also might know, lately, it’s been really up with the great job and great boyfriend and always stellar friends. I just know that’s what you would want to hear. Our friends have been amazing (all keeping whatever promises they made you). I don’t know how I would have done it without all of them. And don’t worry, I’m doing my best to keep the BISS alive and dancing in your honor with a lot of help from our friends! Miss you every day. Love you, ~Pamela
OK… so this BISS is gonna carry you thru into January and we have lots to cover!   There are TONS of shows coming up that deserve to be listed in the BEST OF the BISS and I will give that list in just a moment. But let me drill down even further with some highlights from my own personal agenda for the coming weeks…
Tonight, I am going to try to break my three-year streak of missing Chris Robinson Brotherhood at The Fillmore.  Three years ago, in 2015, this run of shows fell on 12/11 & 12/12…  You can probably do your own math here and understand why I had given my ticket to a friend to stay home… Since then it’s been a sad association for this run… But this year, I am going to turn that around!
So tonight, 12/14, I am (hopefully) hitting up CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD at The Fillmore (http://bit.ly/CRBFillmore2018).  Then I am going to follow up with long-time dear friend and super talented musician, Nigel Hall in Switch Hitters feat NIGEL HALL, ROBERT ‘SPUT’ SEARIGHT, & WIL BLADES (http://bit.ly/NigelHallBBRDec2018).
Tomorrow, 12/15, I am going to a couple of holiday parties during the day and into the evening cause being with friends is first priority this time of year. However, when I get back to the city, I am headed straight for The Chapel for C. Marcus Scott & The Funky Spliff Present: The Human Being EP Release Party featuring Afrolicious plus Ideateam.  All three bands are STELLAR and all three bands are friends so that’s  a definite priority  (http://bit.ly/FunkySpliffCDRelease)  **WIN TICKETS + CD’s + T-shirts* by spreading the word about this show by sharing that link where ever you can think of.  Then email the BISS team at biss@bisslist.com
and let us know where you spread the word.
Sunday, 12/16 & Monday, 12/17, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic plus Motion Potion are at The Independent. I have not yet secured a ticket (or two), but have some feelers out. I really really wanna go on Monday night. And so, I WILL make that happen. (**hint hint wink wink)
Next week, on Wednesday 12/19, the Nat Keefe Concert Carnival is back at The Independent. The Concert Carnival, now in its 13th year, is a variety show bringing together a large cast & crew to create new work in new ways… and a huge night for all featuring lots of friends and talented musicians! Nat Keefe, the guitarist of Hot Buttered Rum, aims to let everyone shine at the carnival. Featuring: RAINBOW GIRLS, QUATTLEBAUM, BOW TIES, LOST RADIO FLYERS, LULU GIBBES & HER AMAZING GAMESHOW, FRED TORPHY, MAGGIE FORTI, STEVE ADAMS, JEFF COLEMAN, ROB HOOPER, KYLE LEDSON, BEATMOWER & MUCH MORE TBA. This year’s show will be broadcast live on KPFA with emcee Tim Lynch. Reserved Table seats & GA standing ticket both available. 21+. **WIN TICKETS OR NEW HOT BUTTERED RUM CD** by sharing this link: (http://bit.ly/NatKeefeCarnival2018). Then as always, email us at biss@bisslist.com to let us know!  Sticking with the theme of spending time with friends, I am going to start the night by supporting my friends, Jimmy Leslie & Steven La Bella who are hosting this new weekly called NIGHT JAR – “LIVE MUSIC WEDNESDAYS” at Monarch. which kicks off each week with an Open Mic from 7-9PM so bring your guitar.
