BISS List 1.15.26 Spotlight on Yak Attack & Oakadelic (1.31) + The Best of BISS This Week

Buckle up, BISS Listers,

2026 has come out of the gate a little sideways. Some real high highs, some heavy low lows, and not much space in between. The kind of start that has a lot of us trying to find our footing while everything keeps moving. This community knows how to hold a lot at once. Joy and grief, celebration and loss, with music running through all of it. If this year already feels like a lot, you’re not alone.

Last Week in Review: I got back on Saturday from an incredible trip with an amazing group of people. We all worked on an event together last year, and our client & friend treated us to a team retreat in Vegas for Oz & O. We went to see The Wizard of Oz at Sphere, which was my first time there and completely mind-blowing. Leaves blowing, apples falling, fully immersive, full-body, 4D magic. I’m deeply grateful for the time, the laughter, and the reset. The next night, we had the chance to see O at the Bellagio, which was yet another unforgettable experience. If the goal was team building, we absolutely did that.

When I landed back in San Francisco, I walked straight into collective grief. I didn’t know what had happened yet, only that my phone was lighting up and something felt heavy. The news was that Bob Weir had passed, and in this city, that kind of loss moves fast and deep. About two hours after I got home, there was a Bobby tribute under my window in front of Love on Haight, and then another one on Sunday across the street at the Psychedelic SF Art Gallery. People singing, crying, holding each other up. Strangers stopping for one another and holding space together. The music never stopped, and it certainly won’t now. It shows up in the streets, in the songs, and in the way people gather (Thanks Jay!). I’m deeply grateful to live where I live, and also aware that holding all of that at once takes energy, especially when the tank is already running low. Check out BISS List’s IG repost page for more upcoming Bobby tributes.

I know I missed a lot while I was out, and I’d love to hear about it. If you were at a great show, had a moment that stuck with you, or caught something special out there, tell me what I missed. Short notes, full stories, photos, videos, all of it is welcome. Tag me or BISS on your posts or just reply and share what moved you.

On My Radar:

And as always, you can choose your own adventure. Don’t miss the Best of BISS highlights below, the Win Tickets page, and the full calendar on the website for even more shows happening around the Bay and beyond.

Looking Ahead:

As they say, put your own oxygen mask on first. Take care of you, and then take care of others when you’re able. Rest when you need to. Say no when you have to. And when you’re ready, let the music do a little of the work for you. I know I will.

SPOTLIGHT ON YAK ATTACK

Yak Attack & Oakadelic

Jan 31st @ Boom Boom Room

Yak Attack is a live electronic power trio that refuses the safety net. No backing tracks. No pre-recorded samples. Just real instruments, live looping, and continuous, DJ-style sets that slide between house, trance, breakbeat, and drum & bass, with jazz, funk, and psychedelic edges bleeding through. Their shows build slowly, explode suddenly, and never stop moving, trading predictability for improvisation and momentum. It’s dance music made by people actually playing, in real time, right in front of you. Joined by Oakladelic, the 7-piece soul and R&B collective at the heart of the Bay Area’s funk scene.
