BISS List 2.5.26 Spotlight on Lunar New Year of the Fire Horse (2.15) + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy Super Bowl Weekend in SF, BISS Listers!

It’s Big Game Weekend here in San Francisco, and whether you’re actually watching the game or just here for the energy, the city is fully in party mode. There are shows, pop-ups, parties, late nights, and plenty of reasons to be out and about.

Outside our little SF bubble, things still feel like… a lot. But inside it, this weekend is about music, movement, football, and being in rooms with other people who came out to feel something together. This week’s BISS List leans into that energy, with plenty of live music, special events, and a few stand-out nights you might want to plan around.

Last week was a good reminder of just how much range this city packs into a few nights. It started with Say She She lighting up August Hall on Tuesday, then I took a few days to catch up before diving back in and catching six more bands between Friday and Saturday. Friday kicked off with Satya at SFJAZZ, followed by a late night at Boom Boom Room where Huney Knuckles laid down a deep funk opening set before TV Broken 3rd Eye Open took the stage. I love them. Adrian is a truly global instrumentalist, moving effortlessly between didgeridoo, guitar, flute, and harmonica. Saturday kept things rolling with a wide range of music in one night, starting with a special Music of the Grateful Dead and JGB set at Psychedelic SF Gallery across the street from my house, featuring Jordan Feinstein, Jon Chi, Jeremy Hoenig, and John Paul McLean, before heading back to Boom Boom Room to kick off another funky night with Oakadelic and close out the weekend strong with Yak Attack.

On My Radar: Here are just a few things I’m looking forward to this week.

Wed 2/4: Andy Frasco & The U.N. @ The Independent – I am on my way there right now and hope to see you there!
Thu 2/5: Grace Bowers @ The Independent – She’s been on a serious rise lately and worth catching now.
Fri 2/6 & Sat 2/7: Dark Star Orchestra @ Fox Theater Oakland – A two-night run that’s bound to pull in a dedicated crowd.
Sat 2/7: Ramble on Haight ft Jordan Feinstein & Friends with special guests @ Love on Haight – Right outside my window!! Very San Francisco, very neighborhood vibes.
Sat 2/7: New Monsoon with F.A.T. Betty @ Sweetwater Music Hall – A solid north-of-the-bridge option to round out the night.
