BISS List 2.26.26 Spotlight on Greg Loiacono & Stingray + Fuzz Collective (3.20) + The Best of BISS This Week
Happy Carpe Diem Day, BISS Listers!
Sun one minute, rain the next. February is doing that thing where it refuses to commit. Somewhere in the world, it’s Carnival season. Color. Music. Celebration. And here at home, Carpe Diem Day lands alongside a stack of birthdays. Joby. Logic. Jenni. Karin up in Chico at Lost on Main. Even Jeremy, who probably won’t read this but gets the shout anyway. If the weather won’t commit, we might as well. Show up anyway. Go out anyway. Seize it!
Last Week in Review:
- Thu 2/19: Polish Ambassador @ The Independent – Thursday was sold out, and the floor was moving from the jump with an electronic flip of “Franklin’s Tower.” Polish Ambassador hits differently than most electronic DJs, layering funk and jam sensibility into the grooves so you’re not just dancing to a beat, you’re responding to something. Here’s a little taste of the night!
- Sat 2/21: Sgt. Splendor + The Sly Stones @ Boom Boom Room – Sgt. Splendor keeps getting tighter every time we see them. After a sharp original set, they returned as The Sly Stones and kept the room moving, with Pamela Parker and Ronkat bringing extra fire. Check it out for yourself!
- Mon 2/23: Stephen Malkmus @ Great American Music Hall – BISS Contributing Editor Gabriel David Barkin got out there for Noise Pop. The show went back to the roots of ’90s indie with this sold-out show. Read his full recap for set highlights, and why the night felt like pure indie love in the room.
On My Radar:
SF Music Week (2/23–3/1) is fully underway, and I’m in it. I kicked things off Monday, 2/23, and was back out Tuesday, 2/24, for the She Is The Music event. Friday, 2/27, is Industry Day, where I’ll be hosting Speed Networking. Saturday, 2/28, is Artist Development Day, with She Is The Music hosting a table at the expo. It’s been great to see the Bay Area music ecosystem show up for each other.
The music I’m circling this week:
- Thu 2/26: House of Love ft Casa Del Sol + Dagnasterpus @ Boom Boom Room (*WIN*)
- Fri 2/27: The Good, The Bad & The Fugly ft Josh Zee, Eric McFadden & Bryan Kehoe @ The Ivy Room (*WIN*)
- Sat 2/28: LAZWELL ft Lady Chi – Lantz’s Birthday Bash @ Boom Boom Room (*WIN*) – Lantz Lazwell leads LAZWELL with a fearless blend of rock, funk, and blues, delivering a high-energy live show fueled by big guitar moments, deep grooves, and undeniable stage charisma. Joining him is Lady Chi, a four-octave powerhouse with credits alongside JGB and Monophonics, bringing serious soul and fire to the mix. More in the Spotlight below!
Mark Your Calendar:
- 3/13: American Beauties: Women’s Day Celebration ft Sunshine Becker, Anna Elva, Nancy Wenstrom, Jen Rund, Richelle Scales & Nate LaPointe @ Ashkenaz (*WIN*)
- 3/14: ALO: Tour d’Amour XVIII @ The Fillmore (*WIN*)

- 3/27: The Motet @ The Independent
And as always, feel free to choose your own adventure. You can check out Best of BISS below, explore the Full Calendar on the website, or head to the Win Tickets page for chances at free tickets.
Carpe Diem, BISS Listers. Whether you’re bouncing between panels at SF Music Week or heading out for a late set somewhere, this is one of those weeks to show up. The sun might not commit, but we can. Seize the live music!\

SPOTLIGHT ON STINGRAY + FUZZ
Greg Loiacono & Stingray + Fuzz Collective
March 20th @ Brick & Mortar Music Hall
Greg Loiacono & Stingray and Fuzz Collective are bringing the heat to Brick & Mortar Music Hall.
Fuzz Collective kicks off the night. This band is in the middle of a creative surge, following the release of “You Know the Reason,” featuring Eddie Roberts of The New Mastersounds, and their newest single, “We Won’t Be Together.” These songs offer a first glimpse of their upcoming album, arriving on vinyl in mid-April and digital platforms in May. Fans at Brick & Mortar will be among the first to experience this new material live.
As the longtime frontman and guitarist of The Mother Hips, Greg Loiacono has built a legacy of melodic, roots-driven rock and electrifying live shows. His all-star lineup features powerhouse drummer Michael Urbano (Smash Mouth, Cracker, Lindsay Buckingham), the incomparable Vicki Randle (18 years with The Tonight Show Band; Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples), and Bay Area heavyweights Kofy Brown, Danny Eisenberg, and Thomas Ayres. Expect world-class musicianship and deep West Coast groove.
Vinyl DJs Lauren Li and Mad Jack will be spinning before and between sets to keep the energy high all night long.
SPOTLIGHT ON LAZWELL
LAZWELL ft Lady Chi
Feb 28th @ Boom Boom Room
Lantz Lazwell is a larger-than-life frontman, part guitar hero, part comic book character, leading LAZWELL through a fearless fusion of rock, funk, blues, and hip hop. With infectious hooks, deep grooves, and undeniable stage charisma, the California-based band delivers a high-voltage live experience that’s soulful, gritty, and impossible to stand still through. Reinvented covers and instantly memorable originals collide in a genre-blurring set built to move the room.
Lady Chi is a four-plus-octave powerhouse who’s performed with JGB, Monophonics, and the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration, with credits from Red Rocks to the Boston Pops. It’s rare to catch her in a room this size. Boom Boom Room is where she cut her chops, and she’s bringing that fire to Lantz’s birthday bash.
BISS REVIEW
Stephen Malkmus Brings on the Noise Pop
Stephen Malkmus stripped indie rock down to its purest form with a spare, acoustic-forward set at the Great American Music Hall. The sold-out crowd soaked up his wry lyricism, casual banter, and intimate riffs as Malkmus reclaimed San Francisco with unforgettable, low-key charm. Check out the full gallery & review from BISS Contributing Editor Gabriel David Barkin here.
