What a week we all had at Skull and Roses Fest! I worked my ass off for eight days straight. I  played. I walked 68 miles. I sparkled. I got stung by a wasp. I met new friends. I got a sunburn. I hugged old friends. And most importantly, I danced! Thank you to all who participated!! I know that anyone who was there felt the magic!

Now that I am back and almost recovered, I am looking forward to this weekend and trying to decide which of the shows listed in the Best of BISS section I will be making it to…I think maybe I have narrowed it down to…Fri:  Antibalas @ Chapel then Lantz Lazwell ft. Get Ready to Rocksteady! Soul Ska is a 9-piece collective dedicated to keeping SKA music alive! The band serves up a high-energy mix of original & 1st/2nd wave Jamaican/UK ska classics. Joining forces with force of nature, “the greatest frontman ever”: Angelo Moore – Fishbone Soldier # 1 / Dr. Madd Vibe himself for another big show at the iconic Great American Music Hall.

Soul Ska is: Jonathan Korty on keys (Vinyl/Les Claypool’s Electric Apricot) , Lex Razon on drums (Vinyl/Ernest Ranglin), Natalie John – trumpet (Oakdelic), Gardner Goetze on guitar (The Right Time), Tommy O’Mahony on bass (The Shams) , Liz Larson on trombone, Patrick Byers on baritone sax (Albino!/El Radio Fantastique) and Aaron Saul on sax (Vinyl/Katdelic), and the all-star vocal trio of Sean “Stymie” Sharp (Stymie & the Pimp Jones Love Orchestra), Jethro Jeremiah and Noelle Glory.
