LISTEN TO THIS
Listen to “Lips Are Movin’” by Sgt Splendor, a new supergroup from indie darling and songwriting wunderkind, Kate Vargas and guitar virtuoso, Eric McFadden.
I spoke with Kate about the song and she said, “We’ve been seeing a lot of people in high up places who can’t seem to say an honest word. Grown people lying is wild to me. But I think it’s a key element of socialization and communication in our world today. Present well, look slick, and you can say whatever you want. It’s not all dark though. This character is moving through the world with a calm smile. They’re hip to the game. Calling it for what it is and not letting it get them bent out of shape.”
You can catch Sgt Splendor at their album release party, Friday at Bottom of the Hill.
