BISS List 11.2.22: Dragon Smoke in SF + Jendala’s Open Studio + Best of BISS this Week

Are you doing anything for Day of The Dead today? If you are in SF then you probably know that every November 2nd, Marigold Project produces the SF Dia de Los Muertos, Festival of Altars and Ritual Circle in Potrero Del Sol Park, located at 25th Street and San Bruno Avenue. Last week, I got really excited when BISS List was asked to promote the upcoming Cory Wong show. When I posted on FB that it’s been added to our *Win Tickets* page YOU all got excited. I know many of you think that you can’t win so why bother. Well, you really can win. Not to mention, spreading the word helps BISS, the Artist, and the Venue, so please share shows you like from the BISS page whenever you see.

This week, I am pretty excited about the back to back SF Dragon Smoke shows at the Indy, brought to you by Boom Boom Room Presents on 11/4 & 11/5 (*Win Tickets*)! All our NOLA peeps KNOW about Dragon Smoke so I have no doubt I will see you all there both nights. But just in case you missed it, I am here to remind you! ++Be sure to get there early on Friday to catch BISS longtime fave Katdelic opening up the show! After Dragon Smoke, I can give you one guess as to where the Late Night After Party will be. Of course it’s the Boom Boom Room. And of course, in true BBR style, there will be a surprise late night set with an All Star Band after the Tracorum set! Then Saturday, we get to wash, rinse and repeat all over again but this time with APE Supersonic opening up the night at Indy then Dragon Smoke, then another All Star After Party at the Boom Boom Room. Thank you in advance to our friends at the BBR for bringing the old days back to SF this weekend! #thankyou

Dragon Smoke

Boom Boom Room Presents:
Nov 4th & 5th @ The Independent

Dragon Smoke is a band that formed as part of Boom Boom Room Presents’ New Orleans Jazz Fest tradition known as the “Superjam”. The “Superjam” idea is to put together a band of people who don’t normally play together and see what happens. With the dual vocals of Neville and Lindell, matched with the Galactic rhythm section, the band quickly realized, “We are on to something” and they have played every Jazz Fest since its inception in 2003. This inception took place at the famed Dragon’s Den, hence the name of the band.

The music centers around Lindell’s blue-eyed soul, Neville’s funk and R&B, and Galactic’s groove. Besides a few trips to the West Coast, this band has been strickly playing in New Orleans. With everyone in the band being a leader on their own, it is rare to get this band together. And when it does, it shows that these guys are really having FUN! From the interplay between the members, you would think that Dragon Smoke has been playing shows forever.

Jendala’s Open Studio to Benefit Heartizens

Nov 5th @ Jendala Studio, Healdsburg

This Saturday enjoy live music, art, food, drinks, raffle and a silent auction from 1-6pm at Jendala’s Studio (444 Moore Lane, Healdsburg) Make a custom metal sign of love! Listen to Paul Riley & Friends smokin’ trucker beat with special appearances by Gailene and Jay Elliott, and Ken Risling. Tony Glaser’s Band of Theseus are back in town to charge your earholes and tickle your eyeballs with their signature funk-dance-happy-rock-mutt-music.

General admission is free or donation; VIP admission is $50 and includes two drink tickets and a Jendala chime. Proceeds benefit Heartizens, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to empowering kids’ creative potential.
