BISS List 12.26.25 Spotlight on Winter Disco Ball with The Westones (1.9) + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy End Of Year BISS Listers 💜

Hope you’ve enjoyed the holidays and are settling into that in-between zone where time gets a little fuzzy. With everything landing midweek this year, this week’s BISS is arriving today, Friday the 26th, just as we mentioned last week.

As we wrap up another year of live music, I just want to say thank you for reading, sharing, showing up, and supporting this community in all the ways you do. There’s plenty here to carry you through the weekend and into the final stretch of the year, and I’m already looking ahead to what 2026 has in store.

But first, a look back at last week. I kicked off the weekend last Thursday, feeling excited about all the holiday events and live music ahead, and made it out to see Smoked Out Soul open for Orgone at The Independent. Two of my longtime faves. It was funky, high-energy, and exactly the kind of night I was hoping for. I caught some great photos and videos from both Smoked Out Soul and Orgone’s sets.

Then my immune system had other plans for the rest of the weekend. I woke up sick on Friday morning and, not wanting to prolong it, risk getting others sick, or roll into New Year’s still under the weather, I took the responsible path and stayed home. While I didn’t make it out on Friday or Saturday, Gabriel David Barkin was out there catching Crying Uncle Bluegrass at HopMonk Tavern Novato, with a full photo gallery and review on the BISS website. On Sunday, I had intended to see The Allman Betts Family Revival at The Fillmore. Rather than let good tickets go to waste, I offered them to our BISS Patreon members, and they were picked up by our loyal member, Ellisa. For fantastic photos and a solid review from the night, check out Gabriel’s Allman Betts coverage on BISS List!

On My Radar: This is a special extended radar since we will not be sending another BISS until January 7. It is the one time of year we take a single week off from the weekly BISS, but do not worry. There is no shortage of great live music between now and then.

And as always, you can choose your own adventure. Be sure to check out the Best of BISS section below and the full calendar on the website for even more shows happening around the Bay and beyond. If you are still making NYE plans… you can check out our NYE show highlights on Instagram, and we’ve got lots of NYE shows with chances to Win Tickets!

Be sure to mark your calendar for Fri, Jan 9th for the Winter Disco Ball featuring The Westones and Animal Prince with Izzy Wise at Rickshaw Stop (*WIN*). Two Bay Area bands on a serious upward trajectory team up for a dance-ready night. Read the spotlight below for more.

We’ll be skipping next week and returning with a fresh BISS on January 7. Until then, enjoy the music, take the rest when you need it, and I’ll see you in 2026. Happy New Year, friends!

SPOTLIGHT ON WINTER DISCO BALL

Winter Disco Ball:
The Westones, Animal Prince, Izzy Wise

Win Tickets

An evening of elegance meets dance floor decadence. Don your finest silver, gold, and sparkle—think winter gala with a Studio 54 twist—for this “Winter Disco Ball”! The Westones and Animal Prince are teaming up for a special night with DJ Izzy Wise heating up the dance floor between sets and into the night. Do not miss as black tie meets mirror ball, champagne wishes and disco dreams.

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen The Westones in the Bay—their last appearance was an electrifying opening set for New Mastersounds at the Fillmore—and this show marks their final hometown stop before taking a break to head into the studio to record their debut album. Don’t sleep on this one. Dress up, show up, and dance it out.

BISS REVIEW

The Allman Betts Family Revival

Devon Allman and Duane Betts, the sons of Allman Brothers founders Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts, brought their ninth annual Allman Betts Family Revival Tour to the Fillmore last Sunday night, alongside a cast of superstar talents. Check out the full gallery & review from BISS Contributing Editor Gabriel David Barkin here.

BISS REVIEW

Crying Uncle Bluegrass Band + Crying Uncle Electric

Crying Uncle Bluegrass played at HopMonk Tavern Novato last Saturday night, proving once again that these four youngsters are treading a path that leads them ever toward conquest of the NorCal bluegrass scene. You can find the full gallery & review from Gabriel David Barkin here.
