BISS List 12.14.23: Spotlight on The Fillmore + Best of BISS this Week
Happy 8th & Last Day of Hanukkah BISS Listers!
I promised you last week that I would tell you all about Bajaja Music Festival this week! I will be honest. I came home and went straight back to work with barely any time to recover so I did not do a full write-up. However, I kept a running list of my favorite highlights which I can share with you… The very first (& maybe best) highlight was running into friends throughout the weekend who told me, that even tho they don’t live here in SF anymore (one never did!), they still follow the BISS List and get my email every week. So HELLO to Sean in Encinitas, Jason in Mexico, and Pete in Majorca!
My Bajaja Music Festival Highlights (tho I am sure I missed a few) — The Beach; The Ocean; Working with my awesome little crew of Lantz & April (& Cherie too!); Watching everyone dance thier butts off for days on the beach; Working with such an epicly SUPER PRO crew to produce this entire event; Amazing bands playing the entire time; Watching the crowd digging on Lantz Lazwell’s solo looping set at the opening party; Surprise KC; Cross pollination between bands all weekend; Hanging out with Los Bomberos at the Auction Tent, especially the bad-ass female chief, Griselda; Working with Hilary to support Los Bomberos; Brunch at my house cooked by a five star chef each day; Traveling & hanging with Kerri; Late night hangs with the crew at our Casitas; Getting all the posters signed by every artist; Watching the raffle boxes fill up; Hanging out with Lantz & April; Laughing non-stop on the flight home with Dave & Audrey; Calling Peter Shand and Lamar Williams on stage for everyone to see the last two artists sign the guitar; Pulling raffle tickets on stage with my lovely assistants Eddie, Lamar and Peter from NMS; The look on Ted’s face when he was gifted the guitar; Everyone’s photos from the festival (Thank you April for sharing with me to share with BISS (& Phaedra too!); Eddie Roberts grabbing the mic from me to say “Give it up for Pamela”; Adding up all the numbers and coming to the total of $12,154 raised in support of Los Bomberos. With that I say thank you to all who participated and especially to Ted K, Chris V, & Chris J for making it happen! & of course, thank you Jenna for bringing me in on this experience! It was truly special!
On that note… I have some great gift ideas for the holidays that give back!
- Buy A $100 Block to support Los Bomberos BCS: Support the amazing efforts of the 100% self-funded first responders in the area where Bajaja Music Festival takes place! They handle every 911 call that comes in from Fire to Medical and everything in between. They simply can’t provide these life-saving services without support, and every dollar donated helps the Baja community in their most urgent times of need. Each $100 donation comes with your name painted on a Talavera Tile when they build their fire station! Help us to build a lasting legacy of gratitude.
- Spread positivity with a Jendala Chime – Our friend Jendala has such an amazingly positive spirit despite going into yet another round of chemo to fight cancer. Just ten orders a day can help to fund her next round of treatments! And you can spread some positivity to your friends & family with a word chime too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H475NlHMZKw
The holiday party season has indeed taken over! However, I made it out on Saturday night for some much needed dancing at Katdelic at Boom Boom Room. The music was pumping and the crowd was having a blast. I danced my heart out. It was the perfect way to end a long week. Check it here!
Last night, when I lit my 7th candle on my menorah, I also lit another candle. A Yarzheit Candle. In honor of the 8th anniversary of Robert “Bo” Mahoney’s passing. I usually spend this day alone and in reflection, but this year I have decided to go and celebrate the last night of Hanukkah and his memory with friends who knew and loved him.
As always, check out the Best of BISS section with our show picks of the week and Win Tickets page. And don’t forget there is always more on the Full Calendar.
I have been talking weekly about the New Year’s weekend plans (& it’s a long one), I think it’s all coming together. My personal plans are going to keep me in the city between the Fillmore, Warfield, & Boom Boom Room.

LISTEN TO THIS
Listen to “How You Gonna Get It” by Dragondeer, from the album Across The Waves (Released 2023).
Denver band Dragondeer has conjured the rhythm spirits to concoct a blend of Psychedelic Blues, Retro Funk, Soul, and Rock-n-Roll into a genre blur that’s aim is to speak to souls and keep the body moving. Four good friends that brew a musical alchemy that is song-centric with a proclivity to stretch things out and see where the evening leads. The Color Red released album Across The Waves is produced by Eddie Roberts. Guitarist & vocalist Cole Rudy says “It’s a result of what the band’s ethical philosophy has become. It’s a reflection of where we’ve come, how we feel about ourselves as artists and the purpose behind what we’re doing.”
