BISS List 8.13.25 Spotlight on Rooftop Rhythms (8.16) + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy Fogust BISS Listers! It may be a little overcast in the city, but it doesn’t really matter when the music community is as bright and lively as we are!

Before we get into it this week, I’m going to jump to mark your calendar for my birthday celebration next Saturday, 8/23. In a shocking turn of events, I’ll be celebrating at Boom Boom Room with Eric McFadden and Friends (*WIN*) and hopefully a bunch of you!

Now, back to the regularly scheduled program where we start with…

Last week in review:

Kicked off my weekend with a double dose of NOLA musicians and funky vibes on Friday night, 8/8. The first band, Billy Iuso & Friends, was made up entirely of New Orleans musicians, and the second was led by one of my favorite drummers from NOLA, Eric Bolivar & his Funky Allstars at BBR, so the groove was thick and the funk was flowing, a big shift from the past week of non-stop Grateful Dead.

Sunday, 8/10, was a beautiful day at Rancho Nicasio with the perfect pairing of bands with Lebo & Friends (Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Vicki Randle, Scott Rager, Burt Lewis, and Elliott Peck pulling double duty) and Midnight North (Grahame Lesh, Elliott Peck, Connor O’Sullivan, Nathan Graham). Midnight North opened the show, followed by Lebo & Friends, and the evening wrapped with a fun combo jam, Lebo and Grahame grinning ear to ear as they traded licks. We really should get out to this venue more often!

As I write this on Tuesday afternoon and look at this week’s options for BISS, I realized I completely overlooked that Tedeschi Trucks Band is playing TONIGHT at The Greek in Berkeley. I’m grabbing a couple of lawn seats right now and making plans, and while this will hit your inbox on Wednesday, if you caught wind of it early enough maybe I’ll see you there. That said, I’d better wrap this up so I can get outta here and make it to The Greek in time!

This is what’s on My Radar This Week, but as always, for even more shows and your chance to win FREE tickets, check out Best of BISS, the Full Calendar, and the Win Tickets page.

Now, I’m off to find my dancing shoes for The Greek… Can’t wait to tell you all about the TTB show in next week’s BISS List Birthday Edition!

Much love and funky vibes,
~ Pamela aka Miss BISS

🎶 Two Ways to Help Keep the BISS List Alive! 🎶

The BISS List has always been a labor of love, fueled by passion for live music and a dedication to this amazing community. What started as a personal email of show picks has grown into a full-fledged resource for funk, jam, soul, and groove lovers—bringing you curated show recommendations, ticket giveaways, and a space to connect over the music we love.

But running BISS takes time, effort, and real costs—over $3,000 a month just to keep the basics going! That’s why we’re excited to offer two ways you can support and help sustain the BISS List:

Make a tax-deductible donation – The BISS List is now fiscally sponsored by Independent Arts & Media, which means your donation directly supports our mission while also being tax-deductible! Every contribution helps us grow, support artists, and expand BISS to serve the music community even better.

Join our Patreon – Want to support and get perks? Patreon gives you a way to back the music you love while enjoying exclusive benefits. Your membership helps cover essential costs and allows us to keep BISS thriving without constant financial stress.

Your support—no matter the size—keeps the BISS List alive and ensures we can continue sharing the music, artists, and shows that bring us together. Thank you for being part of this incredible community. Let’s keep the music playing! ~ Pamela aka Miss BISS
