BISS List 3.16.23: Lantz Lazwell (3.18) + Best of BISS this Week

Happy Longer Days BISS Listers!

Did you all get as completely thrown by the time change as I did this past Sunday? Apparently, this was the last Daylight Savings change we ever have to deal with… Though, I will admit that I have always enjoyed the extra hour of music and bar time at the Boom Boom Room when we gain that hour at 2am in the fall…

#LastWeekend, North Mississippi Allstars showed up in true form this weekend with multiple SOLD OUT shows in the Bay Area. I was lucky enough to grab a ticket and & attend the N. Miss Allstars show at the Indy here in SF on Friday. If you’re a fan of blues, rock, or any genre that’s deeply rooted in American music, be sure you catch them next time they come to town. Saturday night, all of our friends came out to see the debut show of the Minglewood Boys at Finnegan’s Wake. It was a packed house! Then, we traveled over the bridge to. Mill Valley for Monophonics With their powerful vocals, infectious grooves, and impressive musicianship, they’re a band that’s not to be missed. I am so glad I made it over to see them kill it on Saturday night.

#ThisWeekend, the gang will all be out in full force to celebrate Miss Lisa at Pacific Fine Foods with Stu Allen on Friday night. Happy Bday LC! Saturday afternoon, come and celebrate the new LEGACY BUSINESS status of everyone’s favorite tie-dye emporium in SF, Love on Haight. Come celebrate with us from 12-3, with DJ Disco E. On to Saturday night… Yes, I know that I’ve mentioned Lantz Lazwell & The Vibe Tribe, as well as DangerAte, regularly here on BISS List lately. That’s probably because they are two of my current faves. I cannot wait for this Saturday night to come around to see them playing on the same stage in one night at The Boom Boom Room! I’m also looking forward to seeing all of you there who have recently discovered Lantz! And for those who haven’t yet, now is your chance!  More info about this show in the spotlight below! #MarkYourCalendar for these great upcoming shows next weekend: Next week, on 3/23, DJ Williams, who you may know him as KDTU’s guitarist is playing at BBR (*WIN*).He is currently on a six-gig March tour, dubbed the ‘California Love’ Tour, to debut some of the new material featured on his forthcoming album. (Do I sense there will be submissions for “Listen To This” coming soon?!) On March 24th and 25th, Los Amigos Invisibles is playing two shows here in the Bay at Sweetwater Music Hall on 3/24 (*WIN*) and at The Indy on 3/25 (*WIN*). If you like energetic live performances with a unique fusion of Latin, funk, and disco music, these are the shows for you! I am sure that you probably already got your tickets for ALO for Tour d’Amour XVI at The Fillmore celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band with a Silver Saturday Soiree. Ron Artis II joins them on this already SOLD OUT show!

But wait, there’s more! After the amazing Monophonics show this past weekend, I decide to revisit their latest album, Sage Motel in this week’s #ListenToThis. Be sure to check it out below.

As always, check out the Best of BISS section and Win Tickets page. And don’t forget there is always more on the Full Calendar.

Listen to “Warpaint”, by Monophonics, the leading single from their latest album Sage Motel. “Warpaint” reveals the vices of each resident and confronts the struggles of substance abuse and addiction. Their warpaint becomes compulsory to face the day, tolerate the struggle, get through the hardest parts of the world, humanity, life and to fight the good fight. Cloaked in heavy riffs and robust vocals, Warpaint gives you the first look through the doors of the Sage Motel.

Sage Motel, Monophonics’ fifth studio album since 2012, tells its story. Once again produced by brilliant bandleader Kelly Finnigan, the album captures a timeless sound that blends heavy soul with psych-rock.

You can catch Monophonics again in the Bay Area at the upcoming BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival (5/26-5/28)

Why should you “Listen to This”? – BISS (Because I Said So).
