BISS List 10.18.23: Spotlight on Halloween + Best of BISS this Week

Hello BISS Listers! Jenni here filling in for Pamela while she is away at Sugar Pine Festival.

#LastWeekend I was mostly home finishing up my taxes at the eleventh hour, and I know Pamela was doing the same in addition to getting ready to head to Sugar Pine, so we don’t have much to report this week from the internal BISS team. However – we did have some of our BISS crew capture videos and photos of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at Frost Amphitheater (thanks Rose & Paul!). #ThisWeek as you surely already know, Sugar Pine Festival will be in full effect. But if you are staying in the bay we’ve got some great shows that you can *Win Tickets* for starting with Circles Around The Sun at The Chapel on Thursday (*WIN*). On Friday there’s Atta Kid at Boom Boom Room (*WIN*) and The Seshen at The New Parish (*WIN*). Saturday, those of you in the Chico area can *WIN* tickets for Harvest Ball w/ Tim Bluhm at Lost on Main, and in San Francisco we’ve got Space Goat going until late at Boom Boom Room (*WIN*). The weekend wraps up on Sunday with Ramblin’ Jack Elliott ft Nat Keefe and Erik Yates at The Chapel (*WIN*) and The Samples at Sweetwater Music Hall (*WIN*).

#NextWeek Mark Karan plays a super intimate show on 10/22 with his “Buds” Scott Guberman, Anna Elva, and Kevin T. White at The Back Room in Berkeley. Listen to “Holy Fire” by Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes, from their self-titled debut album released just this week!

The New Mastersounds’ guitarist and bandleader Eddie Roberts has released the debut album by his brand new gritty Southern Rock-infused funk project The Lucky Strokes. The newly formed band features Mississippi-based vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter Shelby Kemp (Royal Horses) and the Florida-based sisters Ashely Galbraith on bass and Taylor Galbraith. “Holy Fire” is a live show favorite that rouses the crowd up with driving guitar work from Eddie and Shelby with a snappy melody that consistently stirs up the listener.

You catch Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes live this weekend at Sugar Pine Music Festival (formerly known as Hangtown Music Festival), Oct 19th-22nd at Nevada County Fairgrounds – and again at the inaugural Bajaja Festival, Nov 30th – Dec 1st at Amayo Beach Bar in El Pescadero, Mexico.
