BISS List 11.15.23: Spotlight on Object Heavy + Best of BISS this Week

Happy Bajaja Kick-off Party Week!

If you have been following BISS recently then you know all about the upcoming Bajaja Music Festival taking place in El Pescadero, Mexico at the end of this month (11/30 – 12/2). To show our gratitude, we are giving back to the locals who are hosting us by supporting the community’s first responders, Los Bomberos del Pescadero, which is the 100% VOLUNTEER-operated local fire department. Join us this Thursday for a kick off social mixer and auction preview at The Latin American Club at 5pm. Come for FREE FANTASTIC FUN! For more info on the party check out the Spotlight below!

Before we continue on with this week’s shows, let’s revisit this past weekend… Thank you to all who participated in the JB birthday celebration! A funky good time was had by all!! We kicked off on Friday at Neck of the Woods with Wanted III: A Dangerate Funktion. Saturday, we rocked out at The Indy for the SOLD OUT Monophonics show! Thank you to Monophonics for the bday shout out to Red Hot Mama! Then the whole crew cruised to the Boom Boom Room for Love Mischief. Huge thank you to Love Mischief for kicking the party up a notch for the late night with some of the birthday girl’s favorite, Widespread Panic not to mention the extra Meters funk. It’s clear that JB is a beloved member of our community, and it fantastic to see that all of her friends came out to make sure she had a birthday to remember.

The Bajaja Music Fest kicks off locally with a Social for Bajaja artists, ticket holders, friends, family, and folks on the fence. Whether attending Bajaja or not, you’re invited to a fundraising kickoff at The Latin American Club in San Francisco on Thursday 11/16 from 5-8pm. Mix & mingle with Bajaja Artists and be among the first to preview items from the upcoming charity auction, benefitting the first responders of El Pescadero, Los Bomberos. FREE! * FANTASTIC! * FUN!

Aussie icons The Cat Empire have entered a new era with a new incarnation of the group led by frontman Felix Riebl and multi-instrumentalist Ollie McGill featuring bassist Grace Barbé, drummer Daniel Farrugia, and percussionist Neda Rahmani. Felix had this to say about their first release with this new lineup, “It’s got all the elements (and then some) of a Cat Empire classic. A New Orleans-y sousaphone kicks it off, makes its way to a stadium Latin break in the middle, then keeps flying from there. It’s brass-heavy (played by The Horns Of Leroy), drum-heavy, and high drama. The lyrics are more or less a brawl of celebration.”
