BISS List 1.29.26 Spotlight on Grateful Voodoo (2.13) + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy End of January, BISS Listers!

How’s 2026 treating you so far? Actually, never mind. I already know. I hope you’re staying healthy out there. There’s a lot going around right now, and it feels like a good time to be extra kind to ourselves and each other.

Through all of it, I keep coming back to the same thing. Music. It’s the one place where so many of us still agree, gather, and feel connected, no matter what else is happening in the world. There’s a quote I go back to often: “Dear music, I will never be able to thank you enough for always being there for me.” That is why I keep coming back to the music, the shows, and what helps bring us together.

Last Friday, 1/23, Soul Brass Band brought that full New Orleans energy to The Chapel as part of their Mardi Gras Rolls West tour. Big horns, big joy, and a high-energy vibe that just hits different. If you missed it or want to get a little taste, check out our post on the BISS List IG. And if you haven’t caught them yet, it’s not too late. There are still chances to catch Soul Brass Band in the Bay and beyond tonight in Grass Valley at Crazy Horse Saloon (*WIN*) and tomorrow at Sausalito Cruising Club.

SF Music Week: 2/23 – 3/1 – A full week of events centered around music, including music-related happenings, Industry Day, and Artist Day. Lots of cool events that week. Check out the Industry Summit Day on 2/27, especially the events with amazing members of She Is the Music (SITM) including “Panel 2”, “Panel 4” and the “Speed Networking” event hosted by yours truly (Sign-up here for the speed networking session at the Swedish American Hall). Partner Events are happening all week too, including with SITM member Kelly McFarling on 2/24 at W Hotel.
High Sierra Music Festival: July 2nd – 5th – The lineup was just announced yesterday with a new location at The Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley. Grateful Voodoo celebrates the life and music of Bob Weir at this Mardi Gras dance party! Stirring up a spicy gumbo of Grateful Dead classics mixed with NOLA Mardi Gras party favorites. The night features Matt Lazarus, Jim Talley, J.P. McClean, Jeannette Ferber, Jeff Hobbs, and Dave Rokeach, beginning at 8pm.
