BISS List 4.4.24: Spotlight on NOLA Jazz Fest Nights + Best of BISS this Week
Happy April, you music-loving fools! There were some good gotchas on Monday. Hope you had a laugh.
I know I mentioned spring last week, but now it’s really evident that it’s here because I can’t stop sneezing! Ah, the joys of seasonal allergies. Nevertheless, as I gaze out my window here in sunny San Francisco, I can’t help but revel in the beauty of this day and the excitement of the week ahead.
Let’s kick off this week’s BISS List with a bang, celebrating the unforgettable highlight from last week: the incredible Lebo & Friends show at The Chapel! This performance was nothing short of epic, and we made sure to capture every moment in all its glory. BISS List went above and beyond by bringing out an official photographer and writer to document the magic. Gabriel Barkin truly outdid himself, capturing breathtaking shots that perfectly encapsulated the essence of the evening. Not only that, but he also had the chance to catch up with Lebo himself for a post-show chat, giving us an exclusive glimpse into the artist’s world. Check out the full write-up here: https://bit.ly/LeboShowReview-03-29-24. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
Last week: Before we jump into this week’s lineup, let’s take a quick peek at some snippets from last week’s performances. Okay, okay, they might not be as slick as Gabriel Barkin’s shots, but they’ve got that raw, live vibe we all love. And hey, we want to hear from you too! Share your own highlights with the lively BISS List community by tagging @bisslist on Facebook and/or Instagram, or shoot us an email at biss@bisslist.com. Your contributions add flavor to our collective experience and keep the music love flowing!

This Week: Feel free to explore the Best of BISS selections and craft your own musical adventure.
However, there’s one show that’s dominating my thoughts—the LAZWELL Album Release Party on April 5th at The Boom Boom Room with support by THE MASSIVE. Yes, I may be a tad biased since BISS List Presents is managing Lantz Lazwell as a solo artist as well as with his band LAZWELL, but hey, it’s my list, and so I get to be! It is the Because I Said So list after all!
LAZWELL’s new album, Counter Clockwise is available for Pre-Save now and will be available on all platform this Friday April 5th! Featuring an electrifying lineup of collaborators including the legendary George Clinton, the incomparable Stephen Perkins, the visionary Norwood Fisher, and the versatile Eric McFadden, “Counter Clockwise” promises to be a transcendent musical experience like no other.
I should also mention that this will be the after party for Andy Frasco which we told you all about in last week’s BISS List. We still might have a pair or two of tickets left so share share share!
As always, check out the Win Tickets page and don’t forget there is always more on the Full Calendar.
Coming up this month! Mark Your Calendar for these incredible live music shows (& events) that you absolutely can’t afford to miss but also be sure to check the Best of BISS for a whole lot more!

LISTEN TO THIS
Listen to “Drop It How You Feel It” by New Breed Brass Band ft Trombone Shorty, Wild Wayne & 5th Ward Weebie from the album Made In New Orleans (Released 2023)
In tune with this week’s BISS List and the upcoming NOLA shows, we’re spotlighting this track from the city’s own musical tapestry. New Breed Brass Band infuses New Orleans’ second-line tradition with funk, rock, and hip-hop. The song recruits local legends Wild Wayne and the late great 5th Ward Weebie for a joyous bout of toasting that reaches peak street party vibes when they rhyme “Judge Judy” with “booty.” Snares snap and horn lines blare, but the real marvel is when the arrangement strips back and sounds like the band sampling itself — just drums and distant horns — before re-building the controlled chaos to an even higher level.
You can find New Breed Brass Band playing at the fairgrounds and all over New Orleans throughout the two weeks of NOLA Jazz Fest!
