Happy Birthday Week (To Me) BISS Listers!

It’s my birthday week! Which means lots of celebrating this week. This past week was pretty freaking awesome. As you know, if you read last week’s BISS, I caught Tedeschi Trucks Band at The Greek last Tuesday night. To quote many of you with the same words I have heard repeatedly, “They are [one of] the best touring bands out there right now!” On Thursday, I had the honor of seeing Taj Mahal at SFJAZZ. What a legend. It was also great to see my friend Rich at the soundboard. Friday was Game Night at Manny’s, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite monthly hangs. Euchre anyone? On Saturday night, I saw The Sam Chase & The Untraditional with The Live Oaks opening at The Independent. It was high-energy folk rock with a punk edge, complete with cello, upright bass, violin & trumpet. Super fun! And Sunday… Yes, thank you to Angela for reading last week’s note and offering me her extra ticket so that I got to see Ms. Diana Ross at Stern Grove. We rolled deep with a big crew, and it was a day that none of us will ever forget! Check out these epic photos from Stern Grove!

This is What’s on My Radar for my Birthday Week and Beyond!

Tues 8/19: Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms, and Spin Doctors @ The Mountain Winery – As I write this, I am getting ready to go to Blues Traveler. It will be like a family reunion. I’ll share more next week.
Thur 8/21: We will start the night at Steal Your Faight with Smokedaddies @ The Faight Collective (*WIN*), then head over to Rickshaw Stop for Combo Tezeta and Mestizo Beat (*WIN*).
Fri 8/22: My Morning Jacket @ The Greek is calling… There is also a b-day celebration here in the city for my hometown friend, Lysee. HBD!
Fri & Sat 8/22 & 8/23: Love on Haight Presents: A Weekend of Music and Shenanigans – ft DJ High Pass, DJ Kevvy Kev (of Wu-Tang Clan), and an Air Guitar Contest ta boot.
Sat 8/23: My actual birthday – In a shocking turn of events, we will be celebrating at Boom Boom Room for Eric McFadden & Friends. I have been telling everyone to get tickets in advance because I expect a good crew. Come raise a glass with me!
Sun 8/24: Scott Law’s Summer Nights @ Sweetwater Music Hall keeps the weekend rolling.
Tues 8/26: Béla Fleck and The Flecktones @ The UC Theatre – We have tickets you can WIN!
Wed 8/27: Afroman @ Cornerstone Berkeley (*WIN*), or Jenny Kerr Band’s free show at Madrone Art Bar.

Hailing from the crossroads of the Southwest and the heart of New Mexico, Eric McFadden has crafted a rare and enticing brand of high desert blues and gritty, flamenco-infused rock that leaves listeners spellbound.
