BISS List 8.28.25 Spotlight on Presidio Theatre in Sept + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy Burning Man to the dust-bound, Happy Empty City to the rest of us, and Happy Almost Labor Day to all!

This past week was a birthday blast… Tuesday I was singing every word with Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors, & Gin Blossoms at Mountain Winery. I had a blast with Linda Kelly from Haight Street Voice. Thursday, I hit The Faight Collective for Smokedaddies before heading to Rickshaw Stop for Mestizo Beat & Combo Tezeta. Friday, I scored surprise tickets to My Morning Jacket at The Greek. And Saturday, I was celebrating my birthday at Boom Boom Room, with Eric McFadden & Friends putting on an excellent show. Please feel free to add your captures from my bday to the Google Album!

Thank you to our man Gabriel Barkin, who reviewed & captured Béla Fleck this past Tuesday at The UC Theater.

Now moving on to this week… If you’re still in the Bay while the playa calls everyone else away, there’s still plenty to keep us dancing here at home. I’ll admit, I don’t bounce back from four nights out (plus one all-nighter) like I used to, so after last week’s birthday extravaganza, I may need a couple more days off.

If I do make it out you’ll probably see me at..

And you’ll definitely see me at:

What are you doing this week? Need some more inspiration? Check out the Best of BISS, the Full Calendar, and the Win Tickets page. Then reply back to let me know what’s on YOUR radar!

Looking further ahead into next month, I am excited about some great upcoming shows at Presidio Theatre this month! Mark your calendar for Mino 4 Miles: Celebration of Miles Davis on 9/6 (*WIN*) and keep scrolling to see what other great shows they’ve got coming up in September.

Huge thank you to all the new Patreon members and BISS List donors too! You’re the reason this newsletter keeps going, extending the life of BISS List by at least one more week… and hopefully many more to come.

Much love and funky vibes,
~ Pamela aka Miss BISS

Coming Up at Presidio Theatre

September @ Presidio Theatre

Win Tickets

September is shaping up to be an incredible month at the Presidio Theatre, and we’ve got our eyes on four very special shows. Things kick off with Mino 4 Miles: A Celebration of Miles Davis, honoring the genius and legacy of one of jazz’s greats. Then, prepare for three unforgettable nights with ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro, including a special fundraising luau on Sept 13 featuring music and live tiki carving from APE. Later in the month, the party continues with the high-energy global sounds of Red Baraat, and the month closes out with an intimate evening featuring legendary guitarist Andy Summers of The Police. Don’t miss these standout performances in one of San Francisco’s most beautiful venues.

BISS REVIEW

Béla Fleck and the Flecktones

“It’s hard to pinpoint what genre of music encapsulates Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. Jazz? Americana? Afro-Appalachian Jamgrass? No labels required. The audience at the UC Theater in Berkeley CA on Tuesday night didn’t need no stinkin’ labels to appreciate the musical mastery of this beloved quartet. Whatever you call their oeuvre, it’s a brilliant groove. Now nearing their 40th anniversary, the Flecktones are having a ball. Each musician is a master of their instrumental domain, and as a collaborative ensemble they embody fluidity, fun, and flawlessness.” Check out the full review and photos from Gabriel Barkin here.

🎶 Two Ways to Help Keep the BISS List Alive! 🎶

The BISS List has always been a labor of love, fueled by passion for live music and a dedication to this amazing community. What started as a personal email of show picks has grown into a full-fledged resource for funk, jam, soul, and groove lovers—bringing you curated show recommendations, ticket giveaways, and a space to connect over the music we love.

But running BISS takes time, effort, and real costs—over $3,000 a month just to keep the basics going! That’s why we’re excited to offer two ways you can support and help sustain the BISS List:

Make a tax-deductible donation – The BISS List is now fiscally sponsored by Independent Arts & Media, which means your donation directly supports our mission while also being tax-deductible! Every contribution helps us grow, support artists, and expand BISS to serve the music community even better.

Join our Patreon – Want to support and get perks? Patreon gives you a way to back the music you love while enjoying exclusive benefits. Your membership helps cover essential costs and allows us to keep BISS thriving without constant financial stress.

Your support—no matter the size—keeps the BISS List alive and ensures we can continue sharing the music, artists, and shows that bring us together. Thank you for being part of this incredible community. Let’s keep the music playing! ~ Pamela aka Miss BISS
