SPOTLIGHT ON ELECTRIFYING BLUES-FUNK

BISS List Presents: LAZWELL + The Massive

April 5th @ Boom Boom Room

Win Tickets

BISS List Presents a double funky bill! LAZWELL grabs hold like a purple-feathered Boa constrictor, delving into unexpected regions of Funk, Soul, Blues, and Jam Rock. If you thought this band was a party in the past, now with the addition of a horn section, they are a down right dance floor killah! Slaying reinvented covers and owning instantly lovable originals, they will leave jaws agape while keeping the dance floor humming. David Bowie’s flamboyant theatricality dances in LAZWELL’s melodies, fearlessly genre-hopping in their experimentation. Come see for yourself as they weave in and out of Bowie & LAZWELL originals throughout the night!

THE MASSIVE is the brainchild of Christopher Boa, music director for Sun Hop Fat, and features his passion for Afrobeat, Funk, and Acid Jazz. For 20 years, Boa has been a Band leader as well as horn section support for groups such as Vinyl, Monophonics, Polyrhythmics, Sepiatonics, Bump Foundation, Afromassive, Sun Hop Fat, and Moogot2. His sound has matured over the years and has a distinct voice both lyrical and at times full of passion emotion and edge. He is always searching, reaching for that moment when he disappears and only the music remains.

LAZWELL and Sun Hop Fat, will both be gracing the stage at the upcoming Golden Road Gathering Music Festival May 17th -19th in Placerville. But that’s not all – if you’re eager to catch more of LAZWELL in the Sacramento Area, mark your calendar for April 12th when they’ll be hitting the stage at the Green Room in Placerville. Speaking of the Green Room, don’t miss the opportunity to witness Lantz Lazwell solo, opening for The Gold Souls on 3/29. If you’re unfamiliar with The Gold Souls, dive into this week’s song of the week, “Just Desserts” by The Gold Souls in the #ListenToThis section below. It’s a tantalizing preview of what awaits at the Green Room, where Lantz Lazwell’s soulful solo set will set the stage on fire before The Gold Souls take over.

The Gold Souls blend funk, soul, and blues influences into captivating music with fresh arrangements and a vintage feel. Their energetic live shows are bringing their sound to the Northern California scene and beyond. We spoke with Alex Severson, keys player and songwriter, and asked him to describe the song, “Brought forth from the frustration of the ultra rich exploiting the people and harming the planet, we present to you ‘Just Desserts’. A jazzy Afro funk exploration into our collective frustration, ‘Just Desserts’ demands a better world.”

You can catch The Gold Souls live on 3/30 at The Starry Plough with Tay & The Janglahdahs and 3/29 at The Green Room Social Club in Placerville with Lantz Lazwell Solo: On the Road to Golden Road Gathering.
