BISS List 4.29.26 Spotlight on Redwood Mountain Faire + The Best of BISS This Week and More
Hey Biss Listers!
It’s Julia here, filling in while Pamela is off boogying her way through New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (yes, we’re all a little jealous). Back home, though, spring in the Bay has been buzzing—packed weekends, great shows, and that unmistakable shift toward summer. Even with the chill still hanging around, you can feel festival season right around the corner, and I, for one, am ready for it.
Last Week In Review:
Wed 4/22: The Soul Sessions featuring Tarus Mateen and Marvin “Smitty” Smith with Joe Warner at Black Cat Supper Club – Such an amazing time! Read my review here.
This Week:
Another stacked week ahead in the Bay — here are a few highlights I’m especially excited about (and I know Pamela would be too). Pamela wanted me to remind you all to see our latest weekly Hot List reel on IG, featuring the #1 picks coming up.
- Wed 4/29: The Soul Sessions returns to Black Cat Supper Club at 7pm (*WIN*) – If you missed it last week, don’t make the same mistake twice. I can’t recommend it enough. Get your tickets here.
- Fri 5/1: You didn’t think I’d get through this without a Grateful Dead Tribute did you? Grateful First Fridays hits Haight Street featuring Playing the Dead at O’Reilly’s Pub at 8pm (*WIN*). Pamela would definitely be here if she could, so let’s dance in her honor!
- Sat 5/2: A slightly biased pick – my disco punk band, Extra! Extra!, is playing a benefit show for Eli’s Mile High Club with California Standard and Right Proper at 8pm. Come get down while supporting a legendary venue that’s meant so much to so many of us.
Mark Your Calendar:
- Tues 5/5: The Wood Brothers @ The Fillmore (*WIN*) – They are ALWAYS so good!
Festival season is almost here—mark your calendars for a summer full of music!
- May 15–17: Golden Road Gathering – An absolutely stacked lineup with headliners like Lettuce, STS9, and Leftover Salmon, plus so much more (*WIN*).
- May 30–31: Redwood Mountain Faire – Returning to Roaring Camp Railroads with live music, art, and community spirit, and raising funds for local nonprofits. Be sure to check out the spotlight below for more info and a chance to win tickets!
- June 11–14: Dead on the Creek – Spend the weekend camping in Mendocino County with Terrapin Family Band, BERTHA: Grateful Drag, and many more.
- July 2–5: High Sierra Music Festival – Everyone’s favorite festival is back for its 34th year. With Steel Pulse, The Word, Cymande, Dumpstafunk, and so much more, come to Grass Valley this year and get a taste of what makes this festival so special, and one that we keep coming back to.
There is even more to peruse on the Best of BISS below or on the site, the full calendar, and on our win tickets page – Now easier than ever to score free tickets!
Thanks for reading while Pamela is away. I’ll be sure to keep the dance floor warm for her, and I’m hoping to see y’all out there!

SPOTLIGHT ON REDWOOD MOUNTAIN FAIRE
Redwood Mountain Faire
May 30th & 31st @ Roaring Camp Railroads
The Redwood Mountain Faire returns as one of the region’s most cherished traditions, blending live music, art, and community spirit into a weekend that goes far beyond entertainment. Held at Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton, the Faire shows what’s possible when a community unites around a shared purpose.
This year’s celebration features 27 local and regional artists across three stages, including Melvin Seals with Matt Hartle and the Hartle Gold Band, Tommy Castro and the Painkillers, AJ Lee and Blue Summit, B Side Players, Boot Juice, Soul Majestic, Scott Law, The Real Sarahs, Jive Machine, SambaDa, The Inciters, and James Durbin.
The Faire is a grassroots fundraiser powered by the community where participation directly supports local causes. Local nonprofits help bring the event to life by volunteering, and in return receive a share of the proceeds. Since 2010, the Faire has raised over $600,000 for nonprofits, schools, and service organizations, funding programs in youth development, education, arts and culture, parks, and essential services. The Redwood Mountain Faire is a celebration of creativity and generosity, proving that when people come together, they can uplift an entire community. A good time for a great cause!
