BISS List 11.21.24: Spotlight on BISS Holiday Party (12.4) + Best of BISS this Week

I hope your week is off to a fantastic start and that you’re staying dry out there. Get ready for another round of amazing live music! Whether you’re discovering new bands or reconnecting with old favorites, there’s something truly magical about being part of this vibrant music community. Dear Music, Thank you!

This past week was a whirlwind of great shows—memorable moments, surprises, and a whole lot of love. Let’s dive into the highlights:

Glide Holiday Jam @ Masonic (11/13): Wednesday night at the Glide Holiday Jam was truly special. We were treated to a main floor table upgrade with dinner and uplifting performances from the Glide choir and band. Joan Baez gave a surprise performance that felt like a gift, and Lenny Williams wowed the crowd with his powerful voice. The Philharmonik, NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert winner, was a standout discovery.
Ronkat’s Katdelic @ BBR (11/15): Starting the evening with dinner at Sheba was the perfect prelude to celebrating Bo’s birthday with Ronkat’s Katdelic. Longtime friend Ronkat made the night unforgettable by dedicating “Beautiful,” Bo’s favorite song, in his memory. Dancing through my tears, I felt the love and joy Bo would have wanted.
Get Down 5 @ BBR (11/16): Saturday’s late-night jam with the Get Down 5 was pure fire. Jordan Feinstein brought his usual energy, joined by Byron Rynes, Sean Leahy, Brian Fishler, and Danny Brown. A highlight was seeing Daniel Cohen (aka D3), my little brother-nephew-godson from DangerAte, commanding attention on bass and vocals. Proud moment: when people asked, “Who’s that kid on bass?” I happily replied, “That’s D3!”
STS9 @ Fox (11/16): Watching these videos brings me right back to Saturday’s show. Though the venue wasn’t packed, the energy was infectious, and every spot—from the balcony to the floor—felt like the perfect place to soak in the vibe. It was one of those nights where the music just took over.
Big Head Todd @ Regency (11/17): I couldn’t make it, but a few BISS Listers mentioned in their entries to win tickets that they were hoping for some Colorado college days nostalgia—and they reported back that it delivered! Thanks to Booka & Wendy for sharing your videos & pics!

Speaking of Boom Boom Room, did everyone catch the SF Gate article about this iconic venue? As you know, it’s kinda my favorite place. The BBR used to be the hottest post-show spot in town, and we must keep it thriving. Spread the word and check out the article! Zander nailed it: “The Boom Boom Room is as important to San Francisco nightlife as any club the city has ever seen.”

BISS Holiday Cocktail Party

Dec 4th @ The Fishbowl Bar & Grill

The BISS List cordially invites you to join us as we kick off the holiday season with our THIRTEENTH annual cocktail party at The Fishbowl! This festive tradition promises an evening full of holiday spirit, camaraderie, and plenty of libations. The festivities will begin at 7pm, and starting at 8 PM, our favorite guest startender, Elie Sasson, will take over the bar to craft his famous cocktail specials and pour stiff drinks to keep the cheer flowing all night long. Whether you’re a long-time friend or a first-time attendee, we welcome you to raise a glass with our BISS community. We’re looking forward to celebrating another year of good times and great friends!

Phil Lesh and Terrapin Crossroads

“When Grateful Dead founding member and bassist extraordinaire Phil Lesh died last month on October 25, he left behind a legacy that will long be remembered and celebrated by a loving family, friends and musical associates too numerous to count, and a global community of fans. Some musicians leave a legacy of cherished music. The legacy of The Grateful Dead goes far beyond the music.
