BISS List 11.27.24: Spotlight on SF Rock Collective (11.30) + Best of BISS this Week
Happy Turkey Day, BISS Listers!
Hope your week is stuffed with good music and great times!
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’m feeling extra grateful this year for all of YOU! Thanks for being such loyal readers and for supporting the BISS List. You make this whole thing worthwhile. ❤️
You know how I always say I never leave the city? Well, this past week was an exception! From Oakland to Mill Valley to Brisbane, and back to Oakland again—I was all over the Bay Area feasting on delicious music.
Gobble up these highlights with pics and videos from last week!
- 11.22: The Greyboy Allstars at The New Parish (Oakland): This show was a personal highlight for me, getting to see the incredible Karl Denson and Robert Walter work their magic alongside the rest of the Greyboy Allstars. They brought the house down with their signature blend of jazz, funk, and soul, throwing in some fantastic covers and extended jams. Stay tuned for a full review with photos and exclusive interview insights next week! In the meantime, check out the videos on Facebook – you won’t be disappointed!
- 11.23: The Great Dickens Christmas Fair at Cow Palace (Daly City): Stepping into the Dickens Fair is like stepping back in time to 19th-century London. The attention to detail is incredible – everyone is in character, from the costumed performers to the vendors in the shops. I even had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dickens himself (what a charming gentleman!) and chatting with Kevin Patterson, the Executive Producer, whose family has been creating immersive experiences like this for decades! It turns out his parents actually started the very first Renaissance Faire in the US and then brought the Dickens Fair to life in the 70s. There’s so much to see and do, with shows happening all around, delicious food to enjoy (those cinnamon-roasted almonds!), and even a bit of Dickensian-style line dancing! It was a truly immersive experience, made even better by going with a fantastic group of friends who were all dressed up. I highly recommend a journey to Charles Dickens’ London during this holiday season! Dickens Fair takes place @ Cow Palace every weekend between now & December 22nd.
- 11.23: Lebo’s Birthday Bash at Sweetwater (Mill Valley): This show was all about celebrating the one and only Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, and the vibes were super high! Lebo was joined by an amazing group of musicians, including Steve Adams, Cochran McMillan, Trevor Garrod, Vicki Randle, Johnny Bones, Cameron Washington, Jordan Feinstein, and Jeff Miller for a night of incredible music. Sweetwater provided the perfect intimate setting for this birthday jam, and the energy in the room was epic.
- 11.25: Ghost-Note at Yoshi’s (Oakland): This powerhouse funk group absolutely blew me away! Yoshi’s was the perfect venue to experience their dynamic sound, though I would love a dance floor next time. I caught some great footage for you to see for yourself. Photos coming soon. P.S. You can get a taste of the Ghost-Note vibes when Nate Werth comes to the Boom Boom Room on 12.14 for Nate’s Werthless Good Time w/ members of Snarky Puppy, Ghost-Note & More. You’re hearing about it here first!
- 11.25: Motown Mondays at Madrone (San Francisco): I ended my musical marathon with a dose of classic soul at Madrone. Motown Mondays always deliver feel-good grooves, and this week was no exception. It was the perfect way to wind down after a whirlwind few days of music.
- Studio Session at Lucky Recording Studio (Brisbane): Got a sneak peek at Lantz Lazwell and his band LAZWELL working on their brand new album at Lucky Recording Studio. I can’t wait to hear the finished product! We will be sharing more about this with you soon!
This Week’s Must-Sees:

SPOTLIGHT ON SF ROCK
San Francisco Rock Collective
ft Pamela Parker, Jordan Feinstein & Anthony Arya
Nov 30th @ Music City SF
At the Music City opening party, something magical happened. San Francisco’s own musical powerhouses, Pamela Parker and Jordan Feinstein, crossed paths with Santa Cruz’s rising star, Anthony Arya. What started as a casual meet-up quickly turned into an unforgettable jam session, sending sparks flying and jaws dropping all around. Fans begged for more, and guess what? Music City listened!
Now, the San Francisco Rock Collective is back and ready to blow the roof off with not one, but two electrifying sets. Expect a mix of original tunes from all three performers, plus a few handpicked covers that are guaranteed to get you grooving.
