BISS List 6.25.26 Spotlight on The Breaks + The Best of BISS This Week and More

Happy Almost High Sierra!

The countdown to High Sierra is officially ON, which means my world right now consists of giant to-do lists, volunteer schedules, packing piles, and trying to remember where I put things five minutes ago. Somehow, though, everything seems to be coming together. I’m continually amazed by how much can get accomplished when necessity forces you to slow down a little. 😂 In just a few days, I’ll be heading up to the Nevada County Fairgrounds to run the FestivALL Experience program, and I cannot wait to see so many familiar faces, share some hugs, and soak up a whole lot of music.

The Breaks + The Headhunters

July 2nd @ Siesta Valley Bowl

Two generations of groove come together for a special night at Siesta Valley Bowl as rising supergroup The Breaks shares the bill with legendary jazz-funk pioneers The Headhunters.

The Breaks unites three of the most respected musicians in modern funk and soul-jazz: Stanton Moore, the powerhouse drummer and founding member of Galactic; Eddie Roberts, guitarist and driving force behind The New Mastersounds; and Hammond organ master Robert Walter of The Greyboy Allstars. Together, the trio blends deep-pocket funk, soulful jazz, and fearless improvisation into a fresh sound that is both timeless and new.

The evening is elevated by the presence of The Headhunters, whose groundbreaking work helped define jazz-funk and continues to influence generations of musicians around the world. The result is a rare double bill that bridges the roots of the genre with its vibrant future.

Set in the stunning outdoor amphitheater formerly known as Cal Shakes, Siesta Valley Bowl is the Bay Area’s new home for independent live music, bringing world-class artists to one of Northern California’s most beautiful outdoor venues.
