BISS List 6.18.26 Spotlight on Out & Loud + The Best of BISS This Week and More

Happy Solstice Weekend, BISS Listers!

Between Juneteenth, the Summer Solstice, and Father’s Day, there’s a lot happening this weekend… and thankfully, no shortage of great live music to go with it.

The longest days of the year are here, and normally I’d be running from show to show trying to squeeze every possible minute of live music out of the weekend. Instead, I’m still taking things a lot slower than I’d like as I continue recovering. I’m not going to lie… I miss live music. A lot.

Being laid up has been rough, but one of the bright spots has been hearing from all of you. I’ve been asking what musical adventures you’ve been up to each week, and your responses remind me exactly why I love this community so much.

Last Week: Since I can’t be everywhere right now, I’m living vicariously through your stories, photos, recommendations, and BISS Contributing Editor Gabriel David Barkin’s latest show coverage. This week, Gabriel was out shooting three shows! Be sure to check out his photo galleries for Bertha’s Bay Area Pride Month Appearance at The Guild last Thursday, plus Danny’s Live Dead and Lebo & Friends at Fairfax Festival.

This Week: You all seem to be loving the Hot List Reel with my very top picks each week, so we’ll keep putting that out on Instagram and Facebook. If I were physically able to get out, I’d probably be at Marmot King’s Game Night at Manny’s and then dancing my face off at RonKat Spearman’s KATDELIC (*WIN*) on Friday at Boom Boom Room. The silver lining is that I’ll get to see RonKat at High Sierra Music Festival in just a couple of weeks! I’ve been a fan for years, and I’m thrilled he’s back on the lineup. Until then, I’ll be resting, plotting, working on High Sierra preparations, and living vicariously through all of you. Enter to win HSMF tickets for single-day passes!

Speaking of High Sierra, we’ve got a great show to share in our spotlight this week featuring The Fell Swoop, last year’s High Sierra Band Contest winners. They brought the house down last year during the live contest at the Boom Boom Room, getting the crowd moving with their blend of pop, rock, funk, and soul. The Fell Swoop will join lifelong music nerd collective Thrown-Out Bones for Out & Loud, a Pride benefit show at The Independent on June 25th. Keep scrolling to learn more about the show and enter for your chance to win tickets.

Whether you’re celebrating the solstice, Father’s Day, or simply another weekend filled with great music, I hope you find your way to a show that makes you smile.
