BISS List 9.18.25 Spotlight on She Is The Music + The Best of BISS This Week

Happy National Respect Day, BISS Listers,

September 18th is National Respect Day, a reminder to slow down and practice respect, love, and kindness. In the middle of all the world’s craziness, it is easy to forget, but our community has felt some real losses lately across different musical circles. I know it is weighing on a lot of our friends. So today, take a moment to show respect and love to the people in your life, and maybe even to those you do not know. On the dance floor we usually get this right: giving each other space, lifting each other up, and watching out for each other. What if we carried that spirit into every day?

As for this week, the calendar is stacked. I may have delusions about how much I can actually make it out to, especially since I am caring for a loved one after surgery. But the BISS List is here for all of us, and whether I am there in person or cheering from the sidelines, I hope you find your way to some of these shows.

Last Week in Review: I had ambitious plans for four nights in a row, which is, sadly, more than usual for me these days. I missed Sierra Hull at The Indy last Wednesday, but thankfully, our man Gabriel Barkin covered it beautifully with a review & photos. Thursday, I was aiming for Jungle Fire with Sun Hop Fat at The Chapel, but a minor foot injury kept me home. By Friday, I managed to limp into The Fillmore for night one of Terrapin Roadshow, but I sadly missed the opener Broken Compass. Then I headed to Boom Boom Room to rest up by sitting in the booth, where I caught SF is Dead Allstars. Saturday was worth the rally with a fire show at The Fillmore for the second night of Terrapin Roadshow, then across the street to BBR for the (hopefully new residency of) Ladies Night Disco Dance Party with DJ Zapot, AKA Topaz AKA Sexy Jesus, and DJ Juan Lo. Yes, Topaz pulled out the sax and gave us some. Keep an eye out for ladies night to return! Sunday, I wanted to see Jon Cleary, but had to stay in and recover for this week. Meanwhile, Gabe kept the BISS coverage strong with a review & photos for Neil Young at Shoreline on Friday, and a gorgeous photo gallery of the Sound Summit on Mt. Tam the next day.

What I’ve Got My Eyes On This Week: There is a lot going on, but in light of the respect, love and kindness I am touting, I need to keep the priority on taking care of those I love, which means I just might not make it out at all. But here’s what I’ve got my eyes on this week. If you’re going to any of these, please represent me and the BISS List crew and feel free to tag us on IG or FB if you capture any photos or videos.

And remember, these are just a few highlights. The Best of BISS, the full calendar, and the Win Tickets page have plenty more waiting for you.

Mark Your Calendar

Until next week, remember that respect, love, and kindness belong both on the dance floor and beyond. Keep supporting live music and the people who keep this community alive.

Much love and funky vibes,
~ Pamela aka Miss BISS

BISS REVIEW

Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts

“Neil Young. Legend. Icon. Still crushing it in his eightieth year on planet Earth. The dude just keeps going and going and going. (See “Bunny, Energizer.”) Mr. Young brought his band The Chrome Hearts to the Bay Area’s Shoreline Amphitheatre on Friday night for two hours of solid, butt-kickin’ American rock and roll. He may be an “Old Man,” but take a look at his life – he’s 79, and he’s doing just fine.” Check out the full review and photos from Gabriel Barkin here.

BISS GALLERY

Sound Summit

A magical day on the mountain! With Cake, Alvvays, STAND! Tribute to Sly and the Family Stone (ft Taj Mahal, Greg Errico, Narada Michael Walden, Rustee Allen, and more), Real Estate, Wolf Jet, and Youth Speaks Poetry Slam. Check out Gabriel Barkin’s full gallery here.

🎶 Two Ways to Help Keep the BISS List Alive! 🎶

The BISS List has always been a labor of love, fueled by passion for live music and a dedication to this amazing community. What started as a personal email of show picks has grown into a full-fledged resource for funk, jam, soul, and groove lovers—bringing you curated show recommendations, ticket giveaways, and a space to connect over the music we love.

But running BISS takes time, effort, and real costs—over $3,000 a month just to keep the basics going! That’s why we’re excited to offer two ways you can support and help sustain the BISS List:

Make a tax-deductible donation – The BISS List is now fiscally sponsored by Independent Arts & Media, which means your donation directly supports our mission while also being tax-deductible! Every contribution helps us grow, support artists, and expand BISS to serve the music community even better.

Join our Patreon – Want to support and get perks? Patreon gives you a way to back the music you love while enjoying exclusive benefits. Your membership helps cover essential costs and allows us to keep BISS thriving without constant financial stress.

Your support—no matter the size—keeps the BISS List alive and ensures we can continue sharing the music, artists, and shows that bring us together. Thank you for being part of this incredible community. Let’s keep the music playing! ~ Pamela aka Miss BISS
