BISS List 8.6.26 Spotlight on Fuzz Collective + The Best of BISS This Week and More

Hey BISS Listers! Happy National Wiggle Your Toes Day!

Whether you’re dancing barefoot in the grass, tapping your feet at a show, or just wiggling your toes while reading this week’s BISS List, I hope you find some music that gets you moving.

Last week I kicked off my Jerry celebration on Friday with Young & Dead, who happened to be playing on my corner at Psychedelic SF Gallery. They sounded so good from my window that I had to head outside and capture a little bit of the magic. Saturday was an absolute blast celebrating Jerry’s birthday with DJ Logic & Friends at the Boom Boom Room, mixing the music of the Grateful Dead, Parliament Funkadelic, and everything in between. In case you missed it, here’s what I captured for you. I wrapped up the weekend watching and listening to Jordan Feinstein, Jon Chi, Anna Elva, and Burt Lewis, once again right outside my window. I love them so much, but after my big Saturday night, I had to enjoy this one from my window.

On My Radar:

Fri-Sat 8/7-8/8: AXIAL TILT ft Stu Allen, Nate LaPointe, Mitch Stein, Elliott Peck, Stephen Ramirez, Pete Lavezzoli, Wally Ingram, and Charlie Musselwhite @ Great American Music Hall (*WIN*) – I’m planning to wrap up my Jerry Week celebration with this lineup packed full of amazing musicians.
Fri 8/7: Deltaphonic @ Boom Boom Room (*WIN*) – Switching gears and diving into some late-night New Orleans funk.
Sat 8/8: Rebirth Brass Band & The Soul Rebels with DJ Harry Duncan @ Siesta Valley Bowl (*WIN*) – It’ll be my first visit since the new team took over, and what better way to check it out than with a doubleheader of NOLA funk!
Sun 8/9: Patti LaBelle w/ Destani Wolf @ Stern Grove Festival – This feels like a pretty perfect Sunday.

SPOTLIGHT ON FUZZ COLLECTIVE

Fuzz Collective

August 15th @ Kilowatt

San Francisco’s Fuzz Collective celebrates the release of their new album, You Know the Reason, with a free album release party.

Produced by Eddie Roberts (The New Mastersounds) and featuring a lineup of Bay Area musicians and special guests, You Know the Reason blends soul, funk, rock, blues and improvisation into a sound that’s both timeless and unmistakably modern. This will be the first time the band has performed the entire album live from start to finish. The evening also features an opening set by The Stinson Family Band, DJs Lauren Li and Mad Jack, special guest appearances throughout the night, and limited-edition vinyl available for purchase and signing.

Whether you’re discovering the band for the first time or have been following the journey, this promises to be a memorable night of live music and celebration in the heart of the Mission.

Down To Funk Festival

August 14th-16th @ YMCA Camp Jones Gulch

Down To Funk Festival has assembled a seriously stacked lineup for its first gathering. Seattle psych-funk powerhouse Polyrhythmics, bass phenom Nik West, The Philharmonik and The Psycodelics lead a deep bill of local, regional and national acts. The lineup also features Mission Delirium, The Heeters, The Gold Souls, Huney Knuckles, Big Sticky Mess, The Westones, Sun Hop Fat, Funkways, Ten Foot Tiger, Floratura, Boca do Rio, Tori Roze & The Hot Mess, Second Hand Funk and Trianna Feruza, and more, with Grammy-winning drummer Robert “Sput” Searight as artist-at-large.

More than a music festival, Down To Funk is a groovy adult summer camp gathering. Along with three stages of live music, the experience includes night shows, communal meals, tent camping, fireside hangs, a vendor and community market, and plenty of outdoor space to explore or relax.
