JaM Cellars Presents: John Waters (Writer/Director) Born in Baltimore, MD in 1946, John Waters was drawn to movies at an early age, particularly exploitation movies with lurid ad campaigns. He subscribed to Variety at the age of twelve, absorbing the magazine’s factual information and its lexicon of insider lingo. This early education would prove useful as the future director began his career giving puppet shows for children’s birthday parties. As a teenager, Waters began making 8-mm underground movies influenced by the likes of Jean-Luc Godard, Walt Disney, Andy Warhol, Russ Meyer, Ingmar Bergman, and Herschell Gordon Lewis. Using Baltimore, which he fondly dubbed the “Hairdo Capitol of the World,” as the setting for all his films, Waters assembled a cast of ensemble players, mostly native Baltimoreans, and friends of long standing: Divine, David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce, Mink Stole and Edith Massey.

Co-Presented by DJ Dials: The Disco Biscuits are a band of transformation and invention. Now 3 decades after their first launch, the Philadelphia-based group remains the pioneers of “Trance-Fusion” – bridging the gap between electronic dance music and jam rock – while consistently looking for new sonic boundaries to break and avenues to tell stories within. In the summer of 2025, The Biscuits will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary with an east coast and midwest tour surrounding four special Anniversary shows taking place over July 4th Weekend – almost exactly 30 years from their first ever show (July 5, 1995 at the University of Pennsylvania tavern, Smokey Joe’s). TDB30 shines a light on the band’s storied and impactful past, and emphasizes their continued evolution into the modern era.

Three decades after the loss of Jerry Garcia, a close-knit band of musicians are carrying the torch for his distinctive blend of soul, guitar, and eclectic American music. Jerry’s Middle Finger do more than celebrate the Jerry Garcia Band’s catalog; they also broadcast it to a new generation, upholding Garcia’s dedication to camaraderie and community building by creating their own family-like experience onstage. Double albums like Live at the Chapel San Francisco, May 30th, 2025 capture that experience, shining a light on JMF’s striking ability to play the Jerry Garcia Band’s music — a blend of blues, reggae, Motown, gospel, and psychedelic rock, performed from the early 1970s up until his passing in 1995 — with sincere reverence for the original material and a fresh electrified spirit that resonates with every generation.

Benjamin Andrews is a guitarist, lyricist, vocalist and legend in Bay Area rock’n’roll. Equally at home playing a dive bar or a festival stage in front of thousands of people, Andrews has spent the last 20 years in and around San Francisco, making a name for himself as a guitar virtuoso with jaw-dropping chops, a natural showmanship and deeply expressive style. As a veteran member of the acclaimed R&B/modern soul band Con Brio, he’s performed at the likes of Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, Japan’s FujiRock and Australia’s Byron Bay BluesFest. 2025’s YOU’RE DOING GREAT was Andrews’ first major solo work, recorded at Con Brio’s Oakland studio. While sweeping, cinematic strings and driving rhythms accompany Andrews’ typically stunning guitar work, his soulful vocals take center stage here, drawing the listener close with conflicted meditations on love and self-destruction, death and rebirth. In 2026, SUCCESS ENSEMBLE sees Andrews push himself as a composer, constructing and evoking meaning and movement…

El Ten Eleven’s Nowhere Faster, the duo’s 16th release, was forged within that unease. Across eight tracks, it considers not just nothingness but velocity–the strange urgency that propels us forward even when the destination remains unclear. We are committed to acceleration, convinced speed itself might save us. The 33-minute album slows just long enough to pose the harder questions: what are we running from, and what do we think we can outrun? That tension appears even in the album’s artwork, once again created with longtime collaborator Rob Fleming. It depicts a classic liminal space: familiar, anonymous, quietly unsettling. A stained glass-colored building and a streetlamp blur at the edges, suggesting motion that feels less like escape than enclosure–the kind that traps rather than transports.

El Ten Eleven, Post-punk, Psychedelic rock-from Los Angeles, CA -We like to believe our lives can be shaped into stories clean arcs, legible meaning but life refuses the outline. Celebrating 30 years of Liquid Swords: “GZA, aka the Genius, was the most cerebral MC in the Wu-Tang Clan, as well as perhaps the most acclaimed. His cool, precise flow and intricate, literate rhymes weren’t as theatrical as Method Man or Ol’ Dirty Bastard, the two biggest commercial stars to spring from the collective. But among hip-hop aficionados, GZA was revered for his flawless technique and lyrical dexterity, and was considered by many to be the best pure rapper in the entire Clan. GZA was born Gary Grice on August 22, 1966, on Staten Island, New York, and shuttled between several other New York boroughs with various relatives during his childhood. He started learning rhymes by the earliest hip-hop MCs while spending time in the Bronx, and returned to Staten Island to share them with his cousins, who later became known as Ol’ Dirty Bastard and the RZA. In fact, the three of them first teamed up in the early…
