BISS List 7.16.26 Spotlight on Jerry Day (8.1) + The Best of BISS This Week and More

Hiya BISS Listers! I’m BAAAACK!! …in more ways than one.

After a couple of months recovering from my back injury and the pinched nerve that’s been the real troublemaker, I’m finally starting to turn the corner. My physical therapist says it’s time to start weaning off the back brace and only lean on the cane when I really need it. The only way to build those muscles back is to actually use them.

It got me thinking… maybe I need to do the same thing with live music. I’ve missed far more shows than I care to admit, and if I don’t start getting back out there, I might lose my ability to stay out until 3 a.m., dance my butt off four nights a week, and somehow still function the next morning!

Before I jump into this week’s picks, I just want to say thank you, High Sierra. My heart is full. High Sierra Music Festival was truly something special this year. Moving to Grass Valley meant rebuilding so much from the ground up, and every department faced new challenges. I couldn’t be prouder of my FestivALL team. Thank you to my incredible crew for having my back… literally. Together, we created an experience we can all be incredibly proud of. 😘 And thank you to the entire High Sierra family… our staff, volunteers, leadership, artists, vendors, and especially every single patron who joined us in our new home. Dave Margulies summed it up when we talked the other day: “I think we saved Christmas by moving to Grass Valley.” Gabriel Barkin captured the music, love & joy in this stunning photo gallery.

On My Radar: It feels SO good to be excited about my concert schedule again. Crossing my fingers, I make it to all of them!=

Sat 7/18: Honey Island Swamp Band @ Boom Boom Room (*WIN*) – I couldn’t be more excited to get my NOLA funk on! (I asked Mr. Spies to make it extra funky for me)
Thu 7/16 – Sun 7/19: Lettuce @ SFJAZZ – I’m hoping to catch either Sat or Sun… we’ll see how many concert muscles I’ve got left by then!

Jerry Day ft Melvin Seals & JGB + Stu Allen & Mars Hotel

August 1st @ Jerry Garcia Amphitheater

Jerry Day returns for its 24th anniversary on August 1st! Join Friends of JGA and a full lineup of Bay Area musicians for a FREE event celebrating one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time and San Francisco native son – Jerry Garcia. Music starts at 11:30 a.m. and goes till 5:45 p.m. at Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. See Melvin Seals & JGB with Jazz Mafia, Stu Allen and Mars Hotel, Spencer Krenz & Friends, and more! Stop by the Sunset Mercantile Fun Zone for activities and crafts for all ages.

This year they’ll also be celebrating the 100 year anniversary of McLaren Park! Every summer, thousands gather at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in historic McLaren Park to honor Jerry’s legacy. It’s a grassroots production powered by local volunteers, civic love, and a patchwork of public and private support. You can support this free event by signing up to volunteer or donating to the future of the event.

Later on Aug 1st Jerry Day turns into the 5th annual Jerry Nite with a FREE after-party pub crawl through the Excelsior District near Jerry’s childhood homes. The Nite starts at The Halfway Club at 5 p.m., then the crawl continues at Recovery Room, The Check-In Lounge, and more.
